Forums - Microsoft - 360 Owners: Lost Odyssey vs Final Fantasy XIII

@ Naznatips

I wasn't mad in the first. I'm talking about FFXIII when you said this

"I'm sure he's referring to the fact that it lacks almost the entirity of the staff responsible for developing the vast majority of that series."

I brought that up because you comment was false. Nothing more nothing less.

Lost Odyssey is one of my favorite RPG's this Gen. Final Fantasy brings out so many epic emotions though, this one will be a tough call.

Characters: Lost Odyssey
Story: Final Fantasy XIII
Music: Tie
Gameplay: Lost Odyssey (Love the classic turn-based play)
Style (atmosphere/setting/feel of the game): Final Fantasy XIII
Overall: Final Fantasy XIII

Characters: Characters themselves LO. Final Fantasy XIII will have far better detail and facial animation though to make them more lifelike and believable. The eyes in LO were awful.
Story: Final Fantasy XIII
Music: ... Tie/don't know yet LO had a good soundtrack, but not Nobuo's best work.
Gameplay: Final Fantasy XIII
Style (atmostphere/setting/feel of the game): Final Fantasy XIII
Overall: ... Final Fantasy XIII

Lost Odyssey was one of the best jrpgs to come out this gen, but that's not saying a lot. Lost Odyssey is a 8/10 game to me FFXIII is a 9.5/10 game more than likely will be far more polished than LO was with all its frame rate hitches, and not to mention far more colorful, LO failed pretty bad with their color pallet, they shouldn't have rushed Lost Odyssey.

The majority of the Final Fantasy series was developed by Hironobu Sakaguchi who developed Final fantasy I-V, and then produced VI-IX. All the music up through FFX was done by Nobuo Uematsu.

Of the staff actually working on this game, only Tetsuya Nomura has been a part of the franchise for any extended period of time. He has done character designs from FFVI on.

Motomo Toriyama, the man who FFXIII depends on the most, has been nothing but an event writer for the majority of his work with Final Fantasy. He has only ever written and directed one other game in the franchise, and that was Revenant Wings on the DS. Aside from that his involvement in the franchise is scattered at best, and the only times he's served major roles have been in spinoffs like X-2.

The composer, Masashi Hamauzu, has only ever been involved with a single main FF game, FFX, and his role in that was secondary to Uematsu. The only other game in the whole franchise he worked on is Dirge of Ceberus...

In fact, the only person working on this entire game with any real extensive experience in a major role with the franchise is the producer, Yoshinori Kitase.Who was in fact responsible for directing or producing a lot of FF games since VII.

So yes, my statement that this gmae lacks almost the entirity of the staff responsible for developing the vast majority of that series is indeed accurate.

Its not even out yet, so people cannot just the new FF. For all we know it could be horrible or the second coming of Christ. The point is its unknown at this point.

Meh rushed, it just pushed the Xbox 360 to its limit, should SoTC also get an 8/10 because of the technical issues?

Characters: Final Fantasy XIII, Everyone just looks to be more well-rounded and developed characters than LO
Story: FFXIII, I was disappointed that LO revealed the main bad guy within the first hour of the game
Music: LO, same guy that did the previous Final Fantasies, nuff said.
Gameplay: FFXIII
Style (atmosphere/setting/feel of the game): FFXIII
Overall: FFXIII

Black Women Are The Most Beautiful Women On The Planet.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Were you disappointed in FFVI for the same reason?

the hell should I know ?

Gimme FFXIII and I'll tell ya

Ultimately, I think Final Fantasy XIII will be a favorite among young adults, teenagers, and those who like new school Final Fantasy while Lost Odyssey will be a favorite among older adults and those you prefer old school Final Fantasy.

Pixel Art can be fun.
