I agree with both of you on adventures, I love adventure games. One of the greatest crafted has just released too. But as you say, HEAVY RAIN just isn't in that category, although as I said before, it does have adventurous elements at times.

Which adventure game do you mean?

There pretty much 0 chance this epic mickey will get low critical acclaim. The developer has a great pedigree. It should get great reviews.

I think Epic Mickey will sell more. Wii + Mickey should be a success.

Epic Mickey will win pretty easily. I actually think that game will be pretty dang successful, moving 3-5 million units. Heavy rain will probably be around 500-700k, but it will be the better game IMO.

Also, Heavy Rain seems to be just like Indigo Prophecy so how is that a new genre?

Uncharted 2.

You are misfiling two types of adventure games with different roots. Games like Uncharted 2 and Tomb Raider both belong to the action-adventure genre and have heavy emphasis on  total character control of a 3D avatar in an environment. They are completely different from the original adventure games which include classics like Monkey Island, Broken Arrow and Myst, and are generally story centric games (with the exception of Myst) that relies heavily on environmental and/or logic based puzzles.

Heavy Rain is definitely an adventure game. It might be 3D but the entire presentation, the story driven progression, the dilemma - solution style gameplay is at its core, the root of most adventure game.

I had an massive argument with another poster here who insist that heavy rain was a interactive movie, he use the exact same argument as you and even went so far as to misquote wikipedia (which actually got it right) and advise me that Tomb Raider was an adventure game while Heavy Rain was not.

Its a niche genre and now-a-days even major publishing use the term adventure to describe games like Uncharted but everyone who has been playing PC game back when a Pentium 1 was the shit will probably recognize what an adventure game is.

Both games have good potential but even though Mickey isn't really around much anymore, everyone still knows who he is. Heavy Rain has a load of potential. But if Epic Mickey is marketed right, it will get better sales.

Epic mickey will sell a bit more.

I will echo someone else's thoughts:

Mickey fucking Mouse by Warren fucking Spector.

That's a good question. Because I'm not sure if people will care about either.

I just assume Epic Mickey given the Wii userbase.

do we know enough about Epic Mickey? There is some considerable hype for Heavy Rain. And i personally only heard announcment of the mickey game, but if its good it should sell better.

lol CGI you're re-defining genres? Uncharted is an adventure game but Heavy Rain is not...?
