If it is a world wide release I say 1.5 million: 650 k U.S., 750 k Others, and 100 k Japan.

But if the launch window is 'scattered', then I will say day one in the U.S. 690 k (the increase is due to importing). Others first day could be like 610 k and Japan will still be 100k for a total of 1.4 million.

This series will be the first for many this generation (I had an xbox last gen), so many people I know are looking forward to this game.

Not really.... GoW 1 came out in March 2005, GoW 2 did come out after the PS3 though...

And the PS2 and piracy arguement hasn't really worked out with GTA IV LTD being considerably lower than SA or VC

well, god of war was a new IP with not much advertisement, that could explain its low sales for such a great game.

god of war 2 did come out in "this gen" and the ps2 was dying already.

also, the piracy arguement actually it's pretty good, because when SA or VC came out the ps2 was in its best time and both games were "exclusive" to the ps2 and the piracy rate was very low compared to when it had a 100m user base..

GTAIV did really well with only no more than 40m consoles sold between the HD consoles.

and now GoW3 with more than 3 months to go reached the 140k of pre-orders and it's expected to end with 400k pre-orders when it comes out, easily it's the most awaited game of the series and it's easily one of the best games for ps3 in 2010.

gergroy his is the last god of war and america pre order charts has it 150k uk has it 100k and it has 4-5 months to go. It will sell about 2.2 ml first day and 3ml first week lifetime will be about 6-7ml it will be the 3rd best selling game of 2010. And at that time god of war 2 wasn't that famous. by the way vg chartz has god of war 2 wrong it war 800k first week and for a ps2 game in 2007 when it was already next gen that is a lot.
