Forums - Sony - Sony NOT Learning from PS3 Mistakes - 3D TV Plan Will Fail

I live in the uk we don't have best buy so it'll be argos for me.
I'll give it a go anyway. The connection is DVI on the monitor and videos don't stop playing on my computer when the cable is knocked out, you'll be surprised how many times I've done that.
As the Glasses ir is connected to the tv losing a 3d source temporarily shouldn't be a problem as I swith the cables round (risky but I won't be doing that too often) and it gets a 3d source back.
Well I'll know sometime after Chrimbo.

Its something to do with the glasses actually. Nvidia built them so they stop shuttering as soon as the videocard is not plugged in to a 3D capable source. Bunch of assholes if you ask me... You have to fool it and leave it plugged in to something while you switch inputs.

But I wish you luck. If it doesn't work...I guess its avatar on the PC :)

Well I'll give it a go but if not then it's the PC version.

Well current predictions are that 13.6M people in the UK alone will have a 3DTV by 2013. Thats around 21% of the population.

If you carry this percentage throughout Europe and The USA then thats around 200M 3DTVs by 2013. Now I'd say that around 20-25% of those TV's will be Sony ones so thats around 50M Sony 3DTV sales by 2013. If they can turn a profit on these then things look good for them. Then add in all the 3D games, movies and accessories Sony will sell and maybe its not such a bad idea.

All this is based on estimates though.

I agree this is too early. Tons of people still don't even own HD TVs. What's next, a format to replace Bluray?

Fixed.

Sony has been at the upfront with technology for the past 20 years. CD, DVD, Digital, Blu-Ray, Cell, Emotion Engine.

Even Sony's failures have been used to show how not to do things, but Sony has had their hands in everything in the past 2 decades.

lol...emotion engine. The Ps2's equivalent of "blast processing".

Sony is involved in a lot of tech for sure, but they are rarely the innovators these days. 10 years ago you'd be stupid not to get a sony TV when shopping for a high end model...these days you'd be stupid to pay for sony TV prices as competition is cheaper and often better.

With 3D, hopefully they figure out a way to make it mainstream... Its still quite a hassle even with a PC and 3D capable TV. Atleast then they will get the recognition of being innovators...even if the tech has been around for 20 years.

Thats exactly why its a good time to release that. a 3DTV also is a HDTV, if you wait for everyone to purchase a HDTV than theyll have to purchase another TV. A 3D ready HDTV is not a lot more expensive, so its a great timing as people will consider it when purchasing their first HDTV.
