Anyway this is just something I cam accross....quite a co-incidence, or maybe its intended for nostalgia purposes

Not really Darth, it has more similiarities with Rikku's Ultimate Dressphere from FFX-2, Machina Maw ;)
Edit - Oh and the robot thing in FFVI is the Magitek Armor that Terra, Biggs and Wedge use on the game's inital stage, the Attack on Narshe :)

I still see more similarities between the magitek armour and Serah's summon
the Machina Maw is much wider & not as long as the other two
Vanille's pose is more similar to terra's
the feet are longer
The similarities are not those Darth.
The pose that rikku is doing is the victory pose, she always rides the Machina Maw in the exact same fashion that Vanille does, plus Magitek armor wasn't a robot like Machina Maw and Hecatoncheirs are, it was a suit of armor to amplify the users power ;)
