Here is my 2 cents on plasma. Burn in used to be a real problem with plasmas but it has come along way. With new plasmas, as long as you baby it (keep the contrast to about 50% and try to watch full screen hd stuff) for the first 100-150 hrs. of use, the worst you would get is an image retention. It looks like burn in but it goes away. Most if not all newer plasmas will have a feature that shifts the pixels slightly so that static images won't be retained. I imagine that burn in has really hurt the sales of plasmas over the years, it's just one of those things that sounds so bad, kinda like RROD. Earlier this year I decided that I was going to get an HDTV but wasn't completely sold on one technology so I did a decent amount of internet research. I went with plasma because just about everywhere I looked, it seemed like it was common knowledge that plasmas offer better picture quality. More accurate colors, better blacks for contrast, less motion blur and just overall more realistic images. Sounded good to me since I didn't plan on using my panel for just gaming or a computer monitor. I was thinking sports, movies and gaming. I can say that after 8 months my 46" Panny 1080 plasma is the shit, I swear viewing some content just looks incredible especially Blu-Ray. As far as why there are so many LCDs in Best Buy, I think it has something to do with the way LCDs are manufactured vs. plasma and there being more of a profit to be made with LCD.
This best buy deal is a good one indeed, especially for someone looking to break into the HDTV world. Like someone else said the TV alone is $600 which is a decent value to begin with. Hell even if you didn't want the 360 you could sell it and have a new TV.
To anyone who may be thinking of getting a plasma but is unsure of the technology, just do a little research and if you want, PM me and I'll give some links.
I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.
