No. I've played Final Fantasy 4, 6 (never finished though), 7, 8, 9, 10, 10-2 (never finished either) and 12.

@ Acevil and Son1x

I loved Grandia 2 (One of my favorite jrpgs) but Grandia 3 was lackluster. The Lunar series is FANTASTIC though (except for the spin-offs since I've heard they suck). I want Lunar 3 already. For the Tales series, Tales of the Abyss and Vesperia were awesome, Tales of Legendia was good but Tales of Symphonia sucked IMO. All in all, every series has its downsides.

Why did you stop playing it? and where did you stop?

I forgot were I stopped. I got about 15 hours in. It was the PS1 version I played.

That seems long enough. Why did you stop, though?

Xenogears and Lunar 2.

I noticed that a lot with users who actually play a lot of JRPG, that FF series aren't favorites. I wonder why?

My personal favorite series is Tales and Grandia.

Also obviously I played final fantasy before.

Edit: FF series aren't favorite, but they may love individual FF to death.

For me, there´s more reasons.

1) "Mainstream" aspect. Nearly every reviewer, when review some JRPG, equate everything with FF. It´s always FF this, FF that, and so on. I get, that FF is "meter" of JRPG, but it´s get annoying after while. Same with gamers. Everyone read, how is FF great, so they play it. But they don´t know, that there are some other JRPG. Mybe they know, but doesnt´t care. Again, FF this, FF that.

2) Not all FF are actually good. FFXII was meh, FFX-2 horrible. FFX was good, but it was released in 2001/2002. Now is 2009, 2010 when XIII arrives. That´s too long without solid main FF. But even if FF isn´t good, it gets perfect score everywhere (but yes, it´s not problem only with FF). Again, annoying.

3) Gameplay somethimes isn´t that good either, good example is XII. Some bosses could be defeated without player input, if you use Gambits. Some difficulty wouldn´t be bad.

4) Milking of name. It´s not title with most games, but it still milked pretty much. And for worse, quality of such games is mediocre at best. Dirge od Cerberus, pfff. It´s no good, when you expect (or want to expect) good game and get garbage.

Overall, I´m not that big fan of FF, as I used to be. Nowadays, I will rather take some Megaten games.

Btw: I´m not saying, that FFXIII will be bad, and still want to play this game. But I refuse adore this game, as "the best" JRPG now. It can be, but it isn´t certain. We will see.

Lunar 2 is absolutely AMAZING. Its a masterpiece. Easily one of my favorite jrpgs. You should play it. You should also play Xenogears if you haven't already. It is BY FAR my favorite jrpg of all time. The best storyline, the deepest characters, one of the best battle systems in a jrpg and the absolute best music I've ever heard in a video game. It was perfection.

I'm actually planning on playing Xenogears this summer (After I finish Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy XIII). I've always wanted to play Xenogears, especially after I heard the soundtrack. It's was absolutely amazing. I still think Chrono Trigger/Cross music is better, though.

ive never played a final fantasy game before, so if i do buy it yes it will, but i dunno if ill buy it yet, ill watch a review before i decide.

Funny thing is, the person who composed the music from Xenogears is the same person who composed the music for Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. Yasunori Mitsuda >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Nobuo Uematsu

Megaten? Wow, that's a hardcore throwback! I'm playing Dragon Quest IV on the DS right now and forgot how much I missed the "grind."

But I agree with you, FF has, as a series, become more diluted.  I'll give XIII a shot though.
