the formula for final fantasy still works, but it is overused, like mario, who still works too, but both can suffer from "guitar hero madness" and be anoying

I would agree with you, but they seem to be handing them out like candy now. I think the staff has changed or something.

Remember back in the day when Famitsū was synonym of harsh review? There were like 4 games that ever got a perfect score? But then Nintendogs and FFXII got a 40/40 and it all went downhill from there.

So, what the issue? If they still make the high quality games, they should continue. The problem comes in if they pump out bad Final Fantasy games, which just doesn't happen.

Agreed. It's milked like most franchises (COUGH MARIO).

@ppl above - Famitsu gave Nintendogs, Brawl, Bayonetta and a Monster Hunter game perfect 40's. I've played every single one of these (except monster hunter but I've played the old ones) and they deserve at most a 37. If FFXIII doesn't get a 40 then Famitsu reviewers are on crack.

i think the real question should be:

Will SE pay for the 40 or not ?

i dont think so, if square has to pay for a good score, they'd buy 52/40, with comments like 'we are serious, this game blowed our expectations away, and they were high from the beginning.'

Yes, If they can give the piece of crap that was FFXII a perfect score I don't see why this one won't.

@Naum - don't even go there!!!

@darth - Id take FFVII remake over FFXV (if that's how you say it). I personally can't see them being able to complete vXIII, XIV AND another a main installment this generation. But I'm looking at the 8th gen as the perfect time for a remake.
