I would like to see Sony create their own operating system. They've been working with Linux for the past 10 years. They should have some idea as to how to make one.

Think about an always on PlayStation Network service that connects all Sony devices.

Move a Video Conference from the PS3 to your PSP while you're getting in a car or about to get on a flight. If you're in in you're car (or limo cause you must be important) you can switch to an even smaller Sony Ericsson phone. All seamless.

I've got countless of ideas for the Playstation business, but they never respond to my emails or messages.

It's possible. They could probably do something with Apple. Apple has dual boot capabilities which would give a "Sony Home System" the power and resources it needs to run all of those things.

Or Sony could turn the PSN into their ultimate service. It could connect all Sony devices. Give us games, movies, videos, tv shows, calling, etc.

They would need Apple, but they could allow their service to support Apple products while they are trying to damage Microsoft. Sony and Apple are powerful companies on there own, but if they teamed up, there is no way Microsoft could compete.

Yeah, they would need apple. Sony isn't exactly known for their software. They are primarily hardware makers.

That doesnt mean they need Apple. And Apple certainly doesnt need Sony, so Sony needs to do it on their own.

And the idea of limiting it to Vaio machines would spell suicide for the whole thing.

Sony has plenty of wholly owned software teams..... they can and should do it themselves, they have so much underutilized IP they need to do something with asap.

It wouldn't be suicide for the idea. PSN is already on the PS3 and PSP. It wuld be an added feature to the Vaio line of laptops and Desktops.

The thing you have to ask yourself, is does Sony want to sell a little low margin hardware, or leverage huge royalties on one of the largest gaming IP libraries on the planet.

The other thing that comes up, is windows is an unsecured platform, so people would just emulate it. If they could be bothered to... if you are going to make people jump through hoops, they could just go DL an emu and some roms off of some torrent site. Or play free flash mini games at any number of sites. The idea would be to bring people in with convenience, ease of use, good library selection, social features etc.

Vaio is not a "hardware platform". It is a white box brand, there is a big difference.

It wouldn't be suicide for the idea though. They would still be branching the PSN service to more devices.
