That doesnt mean they need Apple. And Apple certainly doesnt need Sony, so Sony needs to do it on their own.
And the idea of limiting it to Vaio machines would spell suicide for the whole thing.
Sony has plenty of wholly owned software teams..... they can and should do it themselves, they have so much underutilized IP they need to do something with asap.
