Sony has plenty of wholly owned software teams..... they can and should do it themselves, they have so much underutilized IP they need to do something with asap.

It wouldn't be suicide for the idea. PSN is already on the PS3 and PSP. It wuld be an added feature to the Vaio line of laptops and Desktops.

 

 The thing you have to ask yourself, is does Sony want to sell a little low margin hardware, or leverage huge royalties on one of the largest gaming IP libraries on the planet.

 

 The other thing that comes up, is windows is an unsecured platform, so people would just emulate it. If they could be bothered to... if you are going to make people jump through hoops, they could just go DL an emu and some roms off of some torrent site. Or play free flash mini games at any number of sites. The idea would be to bring people in with convenience, ease of use, good library selection, social features etc.

 

 Vaio is not a "hardware platform". It is a white box brand, there is a big difference.
