Forums - Gaming - Malstrom: Game Industry tries to justify corruption

IMO, Malstrom is the Dr House of all analysts/reviewers.

Nobody ever think to criticize House when he launches his 'idiots !'".

The same should be the case for Malstrom, except if you have a problem with him since the very beginning...

Funny thread.

Over a lifetime of debate and argumentation, I've come to realize that as soon as a person starts criticizing your "style," they've already conceded the actual topic.

Malstrom's angry & abrasive? Maybe even arrogant? Perhaps. The real question, as always: is he right or is he wrong?

^^
He often starts at least partially right, but he almost always derails too.

Stwike him, Centuwion. Stwike him vewy wuffly! (Pontius Pilate, "Life of Brian")

Price Cut:

A price cut is used with the producer decides that their product is no longer viewed as valuable at the current price, the indication to this is stagnation.

Stagnation:

In this particular case Stagnation was caused by a lack of content as the hardware never changed but the software was not there. Software sells Hardware after all.

Injecting Value:

This is the opposite to a price cut by keeping the energy around a product especially with video game consoles the consumer sees the value rack up with constant energy. Perceived Value.

So there you go anyway you look at it a Price Cut is the last option it means something failed somewhere and that the only thing to keep consumers coming is to lower the price point of entry.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

Not Nintendo, the gaming press. If they are going to be jerks on one side, he's going to be a jerk on the other until some people get sick of them and start to normalize things.

Or you could just call them all bastards and ignore everyone. It's worked well for me over the past few years. I don't see the point in accepting one asshole just because they are the antithesis to another asshole on the other side. I find it perfectly acceptable to despise both Rush Limbaugh and Ariana Huffington.

What makes you think I meant myself? I wasn't using first person in that comment you quoted. Note the words "other people". Your metaphor forgets there are those who listen to them blindly, but that the more reasonable of their listeners now realize how stupid the whole thing is. That's what should happen here.

Agreed. I didn't mean to target you specifically. I have a tendency to use "you" when it's not appropriate.

And now that we have a counter voice, we need a Stephen Colbert. I could just see someone at an E3 conference mocking the mentality of the enthusiast gamers (not liking big games, but being reactionary to anything that changes the pattern of gaming they decided it should be).

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Right more often than not, hence why I continue to read his site/defend his views. That doesn't mean I give him a pass for the flaws. Nor do I think anyone should. But apparently some people's mileage may vary. So be it.
