"That was a pretty good segment. Overall, I believe their analysis of the Wii is dead on. A system that's success comes from big, exciting titles frontloaded at the beginning of the generation and then when the 'core' bought a Wii, Nintendo completely switched their focus to the non-gamer demographic."

That's not what happened. Nintendo didn't completely shift focus away from core games. They had a gap in games, period.

Why argue with somone who knows nouthing about the wii? Also what's wrong with using the quote button?

I believe the failure of WiiMusic is more of a reflection on human nature rather than the games lack of content. I think most people approached it thinking it was a bemani game when im fact it wasn't. The unnecessary bias spread by the gaming media didn't help it's chances either. I also believe it to be the only real music game on the market because the game allows creation of music rather than play out as some elaborate game of Simon. WiiMusic may not be appreciated in its time but it shall not be forgotten for better or worse. Miyamoto be praised!

Define failure. Failure compared to other big titles, sure, but not to your average title, on any platform.

Aside from that, Wii Music is a fun game. We played it for a couple weeks, straight. However, I don't remember the last time that I picked it up. At the same time, I couldn't/can't bring myself to trade it in. It has the potential to be fun if I would just turn it on...

The game wasn't bad, there just wasn't any audience for it. And you can't deny that the Industry was smearing it long before the E3 2008 conference.

I didn't say the "game" was bad i said that the product was bad. If you're going to release something (a game, movie, etc.) your audience should understand the product, and Wii Music was really cryptic, yes I've seen the videos on youtube and I know some people can make good things with Wii Music but most people can't, I spent quite a big time with it and I couldn't do anything good, and to be honest I didn't enjoy anything from it.

Wii Music should be treated like a small release, not like the big announcement at the E3 and the big holiday title from Nintendo.

This is a worthwhile distinction, between games as products and games as games. Bad games can be good products (Carnival Games), and vice versa (Okami)

I guess I'll just use this post to respond. Anyways, I don't "know nothing" about the Wii. I just don't think it's had anything worthwhile to my gaming tastes for a long time. My question is why do people crucify others for holding this opinion?

@Killeryoshis... That's pretty much what the dude in the video and I meant. There's been a gap, I argue big gap, in IMO awesome games on the Wii. And when Nintendo focuses on titles like Wii sports resort and Animal crossing for up to 1.5-2 years, it's not suprising when some think they've swiched focus. 2010 and up are looking better in this regard though...

I wonder if Nintendo just underestimated the replay value of their games. I've been waiting for Mario Party 9 for at least a year now with no announcement. Theres only so many times you can play a board and certain mini games before you want more. Games with limited content do not offer much replay value. This is what 360 does right. They release downloadable content to extend the gameplay at a low cost to develop and low cost for the consumer. That is win-win for everyone. DLC for new mario party game boards, new mini games. DLC for new NSMBW levels. DLC for an epilogue of Twilight Princess. If they won't give us new games they can at least expand the old ones.

But why are you putting all of the Wii's library on Nintendo? Aren't you forgetting there are other developers who neglected the system with those awesome games? Don't tell me that Nintendo magically can only make awesome games on the Wii.

I think that some "journalist" see Sony first party efforts (InFamous, Uncharted 2, Ratchet, etc.) and Microsoft first party monster (ODST is the biggest seller this year I think) and think that Nintendo first party efforts have been weak these last 2 years.

The only good show from GT is EpicBattleAxe. The rest is just garbage.
