I agree. I know one friend who married right around 18, but her marriage is going fine. She married very well and was an very intelligent person. However, I haven't seen an older age necessarily stop people from marrying stupid.

You're old enough to marry whenever you find someone whom you can love/put up with for the rest of your life(and like it). However, most people tell me to not get married before I turn 25. Just so that I don't rush into anything.

I don't personally think there's an definitive age to get married, because maturity is different for everyone. Some people never get mature enough to marry and be stable, even past 30.

To me maturity, marriage wise, means that you're *commited* and serious about making it work. You get past the issues and actually deal with them... Anyway, if there's an issue, you should be able to tell him/her, because marriage is founded on love and trust.

Age has nothing to do with it.

I got married this year and I'm 24. We'd been together for nearly 4 years... why wait?

To all you "too young" guys, it's not unusual for people to get married well before 25 down here.

What matters most is how strong the relationship is.   It has to be one of solid foundations, full of trust and actual LOVE, not just infatuation or other bullshit.  It'll probably take at least two years for a properly solid relationship to be formed, and only then should the question of marriage arise.

Most of that is not as essential as something you missed entirely. You must have a great deal of respect for each other and your individual boundries. If you cannot guarantee that then any relationship is absolutely doomed to failure. Being able to accept and understand the others entirely irrational, and sometimes potential hurtful requests is the key to a long lasting relationship.

18. You can get married younger with parental consent I believe, but I have no real legal background so I can't say with any degree of certainty. Other than that age is immaterial. Quality of relationship is the only valid determinate. From a psychological stand point though you may want to wait until after 22-24. The time of greatest personal change tends to be between 18-22ish range. That can easily kill a relationship as the two drift apart.

I'd hoped basic compatability and mutual respect was assumed, but I suppose that would be too much to ask of some people.

I've been engaged for a decade, but I just can't do it (she MADE me put "married" in my profile!). My answer: 40 years old.

I would assume everything on your list is just common sense personally. The point of such lists is to put out there what should be common sense.
