Forums - Microsoft - Should I wait to purchase an Xbox 360 until it is launched with Natal?

To be honest if I were you I would just skip this generation altogether. It doesn't sound like you have tons of finances considering you put off buying a Wii and 360 till now and earlier you were an early adopter. Just keep playing your roomates 360 till 2011 when Nintendo , Sony and Microsoft are expected to launch their next systems.

Yes it is nearly two years but if your financially thin it might be smarter to save and buy the next line of consoles day one. Microsoft already started hiring developers to do work on developing launch titles for Microsoft next X-Box. Meaning either fall 2010 or during 2011 we will see a new Microsoft system. Nintendo is due to release a new platform in 2011 too and so is Sony.

If you need a console and plan on buying a Wii, stick with the Wii. If your roomate has a 360 you can play why bother buying one. If you absolutly want a console and have limited income go with a Wii and save the rest of that money for the NextBox, Wii2 or PS4. If your made of money and just stingy and want to get the most for your money, wtf...dude buy a freaking system already.

If you have no financial problems go out and buy that 360 now. Why wait for Natal, go buy a Wii and 360 tomorow. If you have financial problems just skip this generation. Absolutly need a console of your own, go buy a Wii.

Buy one when Alan Wake is released.

Take my love, take my land..

yes unless you are really patient

halo3, and halo reach next year, fable 2 , gears 2, alan wake, crackdown 2, crackdown mass effect 2, halo wars, forza motorsport 3, max payne 3, splinter cell conviction, fable 3, bioshock 2, battlefield bad company, battlefield bad company 2 that have realesed out or is being released up next year along with some other titles.

you shouldn't be afraid of rrod if you get a jasper model even if it happens that you are unlucky you have 3 year warranty. If you live in the US get it on 12-19 december from walmart as it has a $50 gift card which can be used to buy games, xbl subscription, microsoft points. i don't think they are gonna cut the prices anytime next year as they are gonna make natal integrated into the 360.

If you wait that long to get a 360 by late 2010 you might be late for the party, I'd rather wait and save 'till 2011 for the next Xbox.

I'm holding out to see the Natal bundle(s), but I already own a PS3, which makes it quite a different situation of course.

Up to you really.

I know atm in my local Gamespot in Ireland they are selling the arcade for 99 Euro if you give them 3 games from a list they have.

The amount of money you'd save by waiting until Fall 2010 is probably $50. It comes down to a simple question. Are you willing to spend the equivalent of $0.14 per day extra between now and then in order to get that Xbox 360 now, as opposed to next year.

$0.14 is a lot of money and should be taken carefully into consideration

You waited this long so you might as well wait a few more month by that time the Valhalla chip set should also be in stores and widely available.

I have games purchased that I play on my roommate's Xbox 360, and have been itching to get my own once the pricecut came. This is the first generation that I have not jumped onboard early, and the pricepoint is good now for me. However, I feel like I am a little too close to another expected pricecut in fall of 2010, to go along with Natal coming installed on purchase. Now, I don't think Natal is going to be nearly as groundbreaking as Microsoft thinks it will be, but I would be entirely pissed off if I miss out on a significantly better value purchase. I can't wait until Reach comes either. I'm probably going to finally pick up a Wii around late 2010 as well when Nintendo finally releases a black one.

At most you might save $30-50 if they do make another price cut in a year. The question is, is that $30-50 worth the enjoyment you would get from having your xbox a year earlier?

Honestly, I'd be surprised if there's an actual price cut with the Natal Bundles - the Natal unit probably won't be integrated into the console, it'll be a separate unit like the Wii receiver bar.

I'd think that MS will also have a vested interest in getting existing 360 owners to pony up for a Natal for their systems, as Natal needs as many people using as possible to make the impact they hope it will. So the stand-alone Natal unit bundles will have to be available, too.

There's the 3-year warranty, as has been mentioned, to cover issues.

Life is short. Have fun, don't worry about a possible $50 savings a year from now, for goodness' sake... :)
