Forums - PC - Populous - The Beginning Anyone here ever play it?

Played the demo which came with the Simcity 3000 cd on PC. Loved it.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

So if they did make a sequel who would want to see it made more like the original Populous, or Populous: The Beginning? Personally I would want to see a full fledged direct sequel to Populous: The Beginning even though it may get lost among all the other RTS's

No Sig For Now....

Awesome game... i would love to play a sequel... there is a fan made expansion called Age of Chaos, its very good but so hard...

We are Wii....Waiting for Pikmin 3! and Pikmin 2 NPC...

I had Populous in the beginning for the Playstation, but I lost it over the years. But when I found it on the Playstation store it was a must buy.

I also have the one on the SNES.

what they did to Populous is the same they did to Settlers

It is also similar to what they did with the mech game Cyberstorm.  Marketing suits for a company perform demographic surveys and find that a certain template for play is preferred, so the game ends up becoming a cookie-cutter of everything else.  Cyberstorm, for example, was one of the best turn-based mech games ever.  They decided to make it a RTS, because apparently RTS was what counted.  End result is that the RTS version totally changed things up to match the RTS platform, and became forgettable, because of the changes.  Eventhough it still had the turn-based aspect to it, the need to meet what is needed for an RTS fundamentally altered everything.

And Black & White. Put more soldiers and killing in it and completely destroyed the game.

That game they stuck a pet in you had to raise, totally changing the focus of everything.  You had to micromanagement where your pet pooped even.

That level of forced micromanagement doesn't belong within a billion miles of a "God Game".

Bought it, played it. Along with Dungeon Keeper 2 and Theme Park World, it was shite compared to the Bullfrog originals.

You didn't have to, it was entirely your choice.  If you wanted it to do it in a certain place, you teach it then never have to worry about it again.

Populous 1 good, Populous 2 great, Populous the Beginning fairly good.
