Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is NSMB Wii worthy of the title Game Of The Year?

^I knew you would feel that way psrock, but I know that if I don't find one thing interesting, and another thing very interesting, well then the game that is more interesting is the better game. I mean if I see a game and it doesn't look interesting, then why do I have to play it to know that I wouldn't like it?

You never know if you don't play it! I wasn't convinced after seeing NSMB in action at E3. I was quite negative about the game leading up to release. Then I played it and ended up loving it.

Even if Uncharted isn't your cup of tea can you stop being such a fanboy for just a minute and acknowledge that is a great game and would be a deserving winner? I mean, just look at it!

I would actually give your opinion more importance if you had taken your friend's controller and at least try it. Don't  use your looking at friend play excuse to compare the games. It's really that good, little overhyped like NSWMB, but just a terrific game espacially if you like movies and comedy. And it's fun, which is very important to you, right.

Key problem right there, I don't really care for games to be like movies, I like games to be games, not movies

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

I can acknowledge that you like it, and that you consider it worthy, but for me, I just don't feel it

It's because until now, no games has been able to pull it off and Uncharted 2 did, beautifully too.

See the whole concept of cinematic games doesn't appeal to me, one of the things that makes NSMB Wii so awesome, is it is arcade like, it doesn't try to be cinematic in the slightest, no cutscenes, no intricate plot, no excessive dialogue, just running, stoming, jumping, etc.

I agree with malstrom, games shouldn't try to be serious

Thus the reason it's not GOTY material.

So a game has to be cinematic to be GOTY? Then that just shows another thing that is wrong with the industry

No, with so many games being released and being just terrific, a game needs to more than just " running, stoming and jumping, ect" to win GOTY, still a good game though.
