Forums - Sony - Could Take-Two's mystery AAA game be GTA PS3 exclusive

Take Two revenue for GTA IV, January 05th:

  1. Xbox 360 --> 497 million USD
  2. PS3 --> 413 million USD
  3. PC --> 40 million USD

I doubt Take-Two wants to pass on half a billion USD revenue just for fun.

Even with 1.5m units and even 2m if we take the Jan figure,PS3's revenue was only about $50m short of the 360's revenue cause of the more expensive european sales.

So if it was to sell some more units and being an exlusive would have pushed 1.5-2m units more

then it would have  made about 550-650m in revenue.

that means Sony would only have to pat about $200-250m for exclusivity

Okay I try to make it more obvious for you:

revenue for Xbox 360, PS3, PC = 950 million
revenue for PS3 (PC) = 413 million (453 million)

--> 537 million USD less revenue (500 million less revenue)

That is the money TakeTwo would lose without the Xbox 360 version. Let's assume some current Xbox 360 players would get GTA V on PS3 now, there would still be a 400 million difference in revenue. So 400 million dollar less revenue is quite a bit and Sony has to pay TakeTwo a LOT of money for this.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Yeah I agree with that, but there is another factor, your sugesting that all the 360 owners of only own a 360, they might have a ps3 and would therefor just buy it for the ps3 insted so ps3 revenue would be a lot higher making the gap a little smaller

why is there so much speculation and arguing in this thread? JUST CALM DOWN

Anyways,about  your first statement.PS3 has many games that 360 can't handle like Uncharted 2,Killzone 2,etc

People just think 360 is as good as the PS3 because almost all the multi-plat games are first developed on 360 and the ported to PS3.Those devs don't push the PS3 version to its limits.They just make as good a game they can make on 360 and then port it to PS3 not pushing the system's limits as that would take more time and money and also it would make the 360 version look bad which they don't want as both the version should be lmostly similar.

I don't agree. Honestly, I think those particular games could be done on the Wii.

When I said the 360 can handle anything the PS3 can, I'm mainly referring to the core of the game. Sure, Uncharted 2 or Killzone 2 may look a little prettier on the PS3 as opposed to a 360 version, but what does that mean in terms of sales? Very little. The best candidates would probably be MAG or Rage, which is impossible on last-gen consoles, but again, the 360 can pull it off.

The fact that there's a huge debate on which console is more powerful (360 v PS3) should mean it's obvious that the average gamer can't tell the difference. I recall Cliffy B saying it best:

I have what I call the "mom test." Take a game that's on 360 and on PS3, can your mom tell the difference in graphic quality? If she can't, is there that much of a difference?

edit: In summary, the 360 is not "holding the PS3 back" like someone said earlier in the thread. Making a game slightly prettier does not add millions of sales.

My post history clearly shows that i am a Sony supporter but even I know this would be ridiculous. Theres no way the next GTA will be an exclusive. I'm a Sony fanboy but I keep it real. I wouldnt be making these kinds of statements. It would be a poor financial decision to bring the next GTA on one console only. Clearly the numbers indicate that GTA4 360 did better than the PS3 version. 360 even got exclusive DLC that the PS3 didnt get.

I don't think it will be exclusive, and would be shocked if it did. As for the 360 holding them back they could just make multiple discs for the game, so DVD really isn't holding them back.

PSN ID: KingFate_

1.The game that Sony made a deal to be exclusive is no other but Agent.

2.GTA becoming exclusive to either xbox or ps3 will be a huge loss the only way GTA will be exclusive is VIA contract from sony or MS and the best they could do is probably timed exclusive.

3.WTF does sales have anything to do with the consoles graphics performance? will selling 9999bazilion copies make the game the most realistic looking game ever?

Kowen is right this thread is getting more rediculous.

Eh I thought they were giving PS3 owners Agent for 2 reasons. 1 being that they want to use all of the PS3's power and really show what it can do without any bounderies and the second reason was because PS3 owners felt let down by Rockstar because of the exclusive GTA4 DLC that xbox 360 owners has.

I never once heard of a 3 PS3 exclusive deal they made with Sony and I wouldn't believe that site PS3News either.
