Can we all just wait till the games out to see exactly how it plays? kthx. I do not care if it is on rails at this point. This game looks fucking awesome!!!!!!!!!!

If you dont care, you can just ignore this thread.

Nobody is forcing you to come here and reply.

I didn't think i'd have to expand upon what i said before but it seems i should make myself clear for you. Before bawling about this game being on rails, we could perhaps wait for a little more info than "likened to a 'rail sword-slashter' or rail shooter" and a longer gameplay trailer or video that would clear up whether it'll be a traditional on-rails game or a little different.

At this point, no i don't really care whether it's on rails or not, and i am glad i shared this with the people of this thread. Four facts alone sealed the potential and my own personal interest with this game. These being...

- The game is M rated. This could bring about a very interesting atmosphere and open the door for some very snappy dialogue, especially when combined with its medieval-ish setting.

- Motion Plus. A game with the concept of slashing through dozens upon dozens of enemies is using this. Very engrossing gameplay is guarunteed here with a lot of depth, especially with over 300 different weapons.

- 4 Player online co-op. The developers must be pretty confident in this title to include online co-op, a feature rarely seen within Wii games.

- Female protagonists. Pretty self explantory stuff right there.

So forgive me if i'm not screaming and crying because this game is "on-rails", but unlike you, i refuse to let such a minor stripple make me look down upon a great looking game. And yes, i am aware that i was not forced to place a comment in this thread, i just felt the need to express my belief that this game looks awesome. I hope you can understand that some people are still excited over this game despite it being of a genre that you seem to despise so much.

Maybe you should put a notice on the OP saying "those who dont care or like that this game is on-rails please dont comment so us closed minded whiners can bitch in peace".

How technical is your game?

Really? How's that not obsessing? You claim to know what everyone did or did not think, and then you ask for proof of thoughts. Someone gave you a 2008 link on ign boards or something discussing that, wich means, yeah, there was reason even back then for some people to think about it. Yesterday Someone released here a video which showed several Wii games, with this one to the end (the 16 second trailer), that video made things really obvious.

Why would several members say they thought it was obvious in a non-trolling way unless they did think so? It makes no sense.

Because no one saw it as an obvious thing here, that was so obvious it wasn't worth mentioning. I was responding to him, you have to stay away if you will just come to try and lecture me. No one here ever thought it was on rails. It wasn't that obvious, and that's why you see so many shocked and disappointed people.

Still looks amazing. Im a little curious as to how online co-op will work with an on-rails game, but if the Wii has done anything to me, its rekindled my love for rail shooters. im syked.

Wow, so it wasn't that obvious after all :P

The game supports the CC so there's no way it's on rails.

1UP is just dumb, that's all.

It looks like EDF gmaeplay and there's no need to change the mechanics.

Sin and Punishment 2 also supports CC. I dont think thats a conclusive attribute.

Except... they're using Wii motion plus for the sword.

Ask yourself... how does one turn?

At best you could use the pad on the wiimote but the turns would be 90 degree turns.

The only other option would be you have to hit a button while slashing... and that would cause control problems itself.

I mean... lets look at this logically.

You've got a RE4 type view right?

So lets say this is not on rails.

The thumbstick controls how you move. The wiimote controls the sword 1 for 1.

How do you turn? Previous games have you point the IR corner at the edges of one of the screens... can't use that.

couldn't they use the nunchuck as the left analog and the directional pad on the wiimote as the right analog and do the norm for camera/character control?  Seems like that would be plausible.

...

Hm, looking at the early shoots it really looks like it's on-rails, but in the new video there are parts were the character moves (strafing atleast).
My guess is it'll be like Star Fox or Sin & Punishment were you have some control over your movement.
