But... what do I do in the case where I have 2 games that have FF3 on the label, and both are completely different games? That's part of the reason I switched over to calling it 6. (And admittingly, having a little thing on the label of FF3US saying SNS-FF6-USA helps my conscious, at least... :P

Final Fantasy VI and Final Fantasy IX have the best battle theme.

VII holds the best boss theme imo.

I'd say FFIV and FFVIII had the best battle themes. The others are either not as fit for battle (FFVI, FFX) or get tiring after some listens (FFVII, FFIX). I'm not really a fan of Laguna's battle theme, either.

The boss battle themes would be harder to pick, nearly all of them are amazing. I guess this is a good thing, since you really get pumped for the boss fights. FFIV, FFVI, FFVII, and FFVIII pretty much tie for my favorite. I thought FFIX / FFX were a bit repetitive.

FF IV.
I love the normal, boss, special boss (battle with the four fiends) and the final boss theme.
