Forums - General - What's the point of the eyetoy

I bought the ps3 eyetoy when sony came out with the eye of judgement card game. I did'nt like the game and threw it out. I still have my eyetoy, but haven't used it in months. I guess what I'm asking is did sony stop support for the eyetoy and why did they come out with the device in the first place!!!!!!!!!

No, what isn't the point of the EyeToy (har har, I made a grammar joke).

Anyway, the EyeToy is a PS2 camera, you're thinking of the PS Eye.

Also, this should really be in Sony Discussion, not Off Topic.

To be more relevant, the PSEye was supposed to be an upgrade to the EyeToy and a good companion accessory to the PS3. Then the PS3 started selling badly, and Sony thought "screw it". Now the PS3 is successful again, Sony decided to give it another look. First, with EyePet. And THEN, with the Motion Controller, which would be the main reason to own a PSEye from March 2010 onwards.

sony does and will do this with every console to come
Although there was alot more support for the eyetoy on the ps2. I think there were 15 games or so escpecially for it.
