What's funny about this thread is the OP listed why production was cut.... why are we guessing, and no Wii HD is not coming

There's really no resaon to, but the fact you so don't want is a sign it will happen.

Seriously though, It's needed if they want to get those big games some fans crave so much, Next year will the HD consoles will have motion, thus getting ride of that unique part of the Wii. I am very confident Nintendo is working on a more pwerful console version of the Wii.

ROFL, first off, Nintendo wouldn't get those big games anyways, even with an HD console, and they know it, GCN was powerful moreso than PS2 and it didn't help.

Wow, you really think motion controls are what makes the Wii special, lol, you really missed the boat there, its not motion controls, its the content, the controls are just a method of how to deliver that content.  In addition you are assuming the Wand and NATAL will be a success, however disruption theory says they'll likely be failures.  Also what I want usually happens, lol, like Wii outselling the PS3 and 360.

Its not that great a shock is it? Like everyone says - if you have a large inventory of Wiis sitting around, might as well cut back on production for a while.

Erm, how is this even news? Do we get production updates like this from Sony or Microsoft? I mean, if they expect to sell less, they will lower production, it's not exactly complicated.

As for the "Wii 2," it doesn't make sense. The GBA to DS is not a good comparison at all, as the DS offered far more than a simple hardware upgrade. It added a microphone, an extra screen, and touch screen input. What would a "Wii 2" in 2010 offer? Ports from HD consoles? What exactly would compel the new audiences to buy this thing? Call of Duty 7?

Meanwhile amazon.ca is sold out of wiis.

I can't believe people still think there's going to be a "Wii HD" anytime soon. When Nintendo releases a new console, it will be ENTIRELY new, not just Wii with an HD addon.. And I promise you it won't be next year. That would be a terrible business decision, far worse business decision than dropping the price of the Wii earlier this year.

Also, why would Nintendo get their vitality sensor going for Wii in 2010 when a new system is going to come out? Why would games like DQX be released in 2011 if Nintendo made a Wii HD in 2010? Furthermore, why would they make their console more similar to their competitors, who by the way, are selling far less consoles? People just don't seem to think things through sometimes...
