Forums - Nintendo - Should I get Super Smash Brothers if I have never played one

Brawl's mechanics and general movesets are similar enough to Melee, that if you want some practice, you should go get Melee to play on your Wii as well. It's a great game, and it'll help you get ready for Brawl!

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

If you don't own a Wii you should get one just for this game! It's that good! Hey you should get two with the online in it haha.

Melee is one of the games I have gotten the most bang for my buck of any game. There is literaly 100s of things to unlock(though not all necessary to enjoy the game) Single player is fun but the beef of the game is in multiplayer. I would get Melee just to get a taste of what is to come for Brawl. Easily one of the best games of all time IMO.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

I basically second everything that's already been said, plus I'll add:

Smash Bros. is the only fighting game that's interesting to me anymore.  Street Fighter 2 and the Mortal Kombat series perfected the 2D fighting game over a decade ago, and the 3D fighters like Tekken, Virtual Fighter, etc. have failed to live up to that standard.  As Nintendo is known for doing, they basically overhauled the entire formula and reinvented fighting games.  They created a fighting game with loads more content, lots of interesting gameplay modes, an interesting single player campaign that isn't just "kill this person, now kill the next person", and a kickass multiplayer game that allows up to 4 players.  They kept the basic moves simple so that it's easy to play, but gave the characters hugely different moves leading to highly varied playing styles, and added items to keep things even more interesting.  There's just no point in playing another fighter IMO.

Yes! You should get it and love it. Also, buy it for anyone you know that has a Wii. Even your grandma!

currently playing: Desktop Tower Defense (PC), Puzzle Quest (DS), Trauma Center New Blood (Wii), Guitar Hero III (Wii), Ghost Squad (Wii), Actraiser (SNES), Donkey Kong County (SNES), The Legend of Zelda (NES), Kirby's Adventure (NES)

will play next: Paper Mario (N64), Golden Axe II (Sega), NiGHTS (Wii)

This post is made of truth, awesome, and win.  I agree completely.

Yes, you should definitely get SSBB.

It was the funnest multi player game for the Cube and I would still be playing it now if my brother didn't scratch it like crazy.

So YES, buy the game, you won't regret it, trust me.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

1 on 1 can only keep me entertained for so long...the possibilities brought up back in the 64 days with 4 player SSB was the coolest thing ever...and still is.
