I was 10.  How can you blame me XD.

Also, how could you guess you had to draw Guardian Forces from bosses? Broken game I tell ya! Broken!

Just try shit out.

Grinding as in the drawing of magic or the actual leveling?

Both. I would get my ass kicked alot in FF8 so I had to level up alot. And the whole magic drawing system sucked donkey balls.

The drawing i can understand as it is a problem with most people.  I always thought the grinding in VIII was one of the easiest next to FFX imo.

I got my ass kicked alot while grinding. Do you know how its feels to gain 5 or 6 levels just to get killed by one of FF8's hax monsters and have to gain those levels ALL OVER AGAIN?!!! Also, the battle system in FF8 got boring alot of times so that didn't help.

I remember when i first played VIII got owned by a T-Rex -.- good times.  Also monsters level with you so it's a must to utilize the Junction system... or you could run.

If i run then I would end up underleveled which would result in me getting my ass owned in boss battles.

oommmmggg

all this talk REALLY makes me wanna play FF8 & FF9 again

but I'll wait for the PSN re-release

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Good old times there, with VII,VIII (yuep...IX wasnt my thing, but still....spend a good 100+ hours there too, all max up, best weapons and all that....even the freaking Chocobo treasure hunter game I completed), so lets see:

VII - at least 100 hours, everyone max lvls, best weapons, Limits, and thanx to the bugs, a lot of ultra high level materias...hehehe

VIII - another 100+ game with everything an 'afficionado' (addict) would go for! I remeber being in the islands....was grinding and so...a few hours later I awoke to the game over screen....was going about 4 hours straight without saving to boost there...heheheh

X - My Grid Sphere is complete...with ALL characters! 170+ hours there baby!!!I know people who spend more than 200! Thats kinda too much, even for me...

XII - All maxed out chars, I am still to kill Ultima Weapon, but the rest is done. 150+ hours....Such a pity I cannot play like that anymore.

About grinding in FF games: not really necessary if you just want to finish it, but if you want to complete all the mini-games, treasures and to beat the real challenges the game ofer (weapons and such) you'll have to spend some time doing it, its fun...once you find a good place to do it (XII for example, found this nice live Sochen cave spot where you can do 1-3 lvls per spaw/re-spaw, after lvl 80 easily, you find such spots on your own, or on walkthroughs)

OT - 50-60 hours means at least DOUBLE that to me to really get the feel of the game. I will surelly enjoy it, specially because it will take me months to go through all those hours.

Kinda like you have to "guess" on how to get omnislash.  Strategy Guides ftw!

If it's true, I wish FF XIII a success so huge to show all developers that making games that last long is a good investment.
