Forums - Gaming - FF13 Main Quest will be 50 - 60 HOURS LONG.....long enough for you FF fans?

the longer the better.

Around the Network

Long enough? Nope. Look at the back of the box for FF6; it boasted a play time of 80 hours. I'm more saddened that games are still short these days...

@ Soriku

It looks like you got what you asked for. Toriyama (FF13's directer) said that in FFXIII there won't be an escape command for battles, instead if you die in battle you have the option to "restart" at the point before you entered into the battle.

Damn, this game is going to be awesome. Not only does your party fully recover after every battle but now if you die you will have the option to restart the battle. This completely makes up for having a GAME OVER if you party leader (the character your controlling) dies. Toriyama also said that FF13 will be harder then other FF games so things won't be easy. It looks like FF13's battle system won't be a chore like FF8 and 12's battles systems were.

Nice! They're making all the good moves for this game that I liked in other games. No random battles, HP healing, retrying after boss battles and all for a harder game.

@outlaw

I hope you were being sarcastic. If you're serious, you don't really know what you're talking about unless you played games with the HP/retry systems before (you played TWEWY but you didn't even complete it).

Some bits were sarcastic and some were serious.

I stopped playing TWEWY because I thought it was a bad game, and I did not want to continue playing the game.

People claim that games are getting shorter and shorter even though Miyamoto was complaining about games becoming too long just a few years ago.

I'm actually expecting a Xenogears level storyline from this game. I have a feeling it will deliver on that. The premise of FF13's storyline is pretty damn amazing.

WAT

The only game ever that is considered comparable to Xenogears is Planescape: Torment, and the only game in the DVD era that had a really complex story was Xenosaga III (combined with the stories of I and II).

Plus, they CAN'T have a story this complex in FF13, it WON'T SELL.

So FFXIII's plot is shallow?  That's suprising since the story is heavily focused on character emotions.

Because a story can be either amazingly complex with extremely developed characters or shallow, right? :P

FF13 will have a good story, maybe even a very good one, but it just can't compare to Xenogears', most pepole that I know didn't really understand the plot on their first playthrough, and needed to talk about it to other pepole who played the game.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

I love the assumptions being made before games release. It's funny.

looool, are people complaining now that 50-60 hours is average or that it automatically means that FFXIII won't have a complex history?

It's funny how nitpicky some gamers are today

I love that pepole, for some reason, think they are right, even if they have nothing to back it up with :)

For a game thats taken THIS long thats all? i was expecting this one to be 100 hours + this time around... sad, i wont be buying this now.

Too long! lol Won't bother to check it after hit bargain bin then. I hate games full of cut scenes.
