Forums - Nintendo - What if Nintendo made a blue ocean Dating Sim?

Blue Ocean FPS? Kid's stuff! It's just a matter of finding how to make free roaming work with the arcade controls for pick up and play games, while giving content that appeals to everyone instead of mainly 12-30 males (note, I wrote "mainly; I know there are fans of those in other demographics).

But a Dating Sim. That's something that would make it difficult to make a blue ocean/disruptive version. It's not just a matter of a dating sim where you chose from Peach, Daisy, Zelda, Samus, and others (although that would be awesome). It would have to be finding what content appeals to those who would be turned off by the time intensive gameplay, and narrative emphasis that the expanded market isn't too keen on (they still prefere games to be games).

So what do you think Nintendo could do to make such a game?

And yes, I realize it's almost all in Japan and its neighbors, and a nich genre at that. The point would be making it a hit everywhere.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

The dating seem would fail, because the girls would be hogging all the Wiimotes (some with condoms and some without).

Another reason for failure will be before you could date someone, you would need to know their Wii code, friend code generated for the game, phone number, and email address, plus have a video camera installed at their house to know when they are online.  If you already know all this, why not just call them or go over in person.

Perhaps Mii Dating will be Nintendo's foray into social networking and the likes...

Dating =/= porn.

If I can date Samus I'm in.

I think a blue ocean MMO would be much better. Some kind of Nintendo facebook maybe. Anything that's online and makes players meet and interact with other gamers, discussing their Wii experience and recommend games. Nintendo could use it to advertise games.
They could bundle it with a keyboard/cam/wiispeak/something.
AND, it could be compatible with the DSi!

I imagine people coming home from work/school/whatever turning on their Wii's and entering the Wii Portal (preliminary). Maybe they upload some photos from their DSi's. Then they talk with their friends.
"I got a new game today. It wasn't good at all, some mini-game collection I don't even remember the name of. It seems that this is all there is for the Wii. It was fun at first but now, I don't know..."
"Aw, that's to bad. Place it in the Hall of Shame, and remember to give it a ranking. But hey, I got this really cool game today. It's called Muramasa and it's really good! You should try it as well!" *Sends screenshot taken ingame through a new Photo Channel feature*
"Wow! I love the Wii Portal!"

I agree, the game I just spoke about is not porn but is really nice sometimes

You are under arrest sir!!!!

They should deconstruct the "you are an otaku in your basement, imitating human relationships because you have none" stereotype, in favor of making genuine romantic stories.
Mainstream loves romance.
Also, they could try to make it appealing for the west by making it non-animesque.

Is there ANY non-animesque dating sim at all?

Wii Dating.

Date Random Mii's, increase your stamina, charm and intellect along the way, give your love interest random Nintendo variety gifts such as Super Mushrooms, Bags of Rupees and Maxim Tomatoes, and later unlock Nintendo variety costumes.

Pixel Art can be fun.
