Forums - Gaming - Akira Yamaoka leaves Konami (Is anybody from Silent Hill here???)

Well in a few days we're going to see (sorry listen) the last work of Akira Yamaoka in Konami, seems like Mr Yamaoko left the company.

It would appear that he has left the company entirely rather than moving to another international division. As you would expect, there has been no formal confirmation from Konami, so right now this is an unconfirmed rumour – albeit one generated from a pretty reliable source.

To date there’s no news yet as to what Yamaoka plans to do next. Since leaving Konami he has been in the States and is now currently in Europe, seemingly on vacation.

You might wonder why I’m writing this, but trust me – in many regards, Yamaoka is Silent Hill. I’m intrigued as to how Konami will proceed as I – and no doubt many others – find it very hard to envisage any Silent Hill game without Yamaoka’s trademark sound. I like to think that I have an open mind, but if this turns out to be true, this is sad news indeed.

And the last pillar on the Silent Hill series left the building

ever heard of freelance?

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

Silent Hill was dead to me after 4. I did buy Origins on the PSP, but I deleted the memory of playing that from my mind, as to not let its retconning polute the plot of the 1st and 3rd.

Origins and Homecoming might have Yamaoka's incredible sounds, but it doesn't make them Silent Hills.

GREAT

we may see a real NEW silent hill in the not so near future

Time to Work !

Oh no!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Homecoming is great, so far. As a matter of fact, I should be playing it right now. Sorry to lose Yomaoka, though. I've loved every Silent Hill I've played (only missed Origins). If the series is ending, I can't complain. It was a blast!!

Homecoming was pretty underappreciated, I thought. That Double Helix ain't half bad. Gives me hope that Front Mission: Evolved maybe just maybe will not suck.

Seems official:

While rumors have been going around all day regarding Silent Hill series composer and producer Akira Yamaoka leaving Konami, OSV has received official confirmation from Yamaoka himself. This is huge news for the gaming industry, as Yamaoka has been one of the biggest critics of the Japanese gaming industry. It will be interesting to see what he does if he decides to work freelance in the gaming industry.

Seems like he isn't comming back.

That's too bad. He produced a lot of interesting music for Konami (not just Silent Hill). Maybe someone else will be interested in his talent.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Sony should hire him

Siren needs some of his magic
