Forums - Nintendo - The Fun Factor Battles: Metroid Prime Corruption vs The Conduit

Hey everyone,

I've decided to start the Fun Factor Battles here because I want to know your opinions. I'm sure everyone here buy their games for entertainment purposes and gaming is all about having fun. Well having said that, I want to know what you think makes a specific game fun. Is it the gameplay elements that make that game fun to play? Is it the art style? Or perhaps the characters within the game?

So basically we're comparing two games and determining which of the two provides more enjoyment and fun to you and please tell us after your evaluation of each game, which of the two games will you buy if you could only buy one of them?

Here are a few rules about The Fun Factor Battles:

1) No trolling pls.

2) If you have never played one of the two games compared but you know enough about it to make a comparison, go ahead and tell us what you think the fun factors of the game is.

3) I won't compare console exclusives to each other i.e Killzone 2 vs Halo 3 nor compare HD games that aren't on the Wii compared to Wii exclusives i.e Assassin's Creed II vs NSMBW.

4) Games of different genres will be compared i.e Bioshock vs Need for Speed Shift, etc

5) Please do not mention other games in each battle. Only discuss the two compared games.

6) Games that are released will be compared. Never will there be comparisons of one unreleased game and one released game or two unreleased games i.e Final Fantasy XIII vs Fallout 3, Mass Effect 2 vs Splinter Cell: Conviction.

So here's how your evaluation should look like:

Game A Fun Factors

- blah blah blah

- blah blah blah

 Game B Fun Factors

- blah blah blah

- blah blah blah

 Game to buy: Game A

Now let's start off the first set of battles.

METROID PRIME: CORRUPTION vs THE CONDUIT

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

- Exploration is probably the most fun part of this entire game, and there's loads of it. Sure, it's somewhat linear, but going around and looking at the areas and everything ... It's magical.

- New powerups enabling new abilities, a staple of the Metroid-series, give lots of enjoyment in my opinion.

- Fantastic controls make it easy to enjoy

The Conduit

- Controls being customizable so you can set them up just the way you like them makes it easy to optimize the fun you can gain from the title.

Admittedly, I haven't played the multiplayer in The Conduit yet, so I'm not sure if I can properly judge it, but going by my experience, the game to buy is: Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

This is pretty one-sided...

Thanks for the evaluation. Good to see you enjoying your games :)

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

- Because it is part of the Action-Adventure genre, it has more Adventuring aspects as well as larger open worlds than the conduit. There are puzzling aspect as well.

- Longer, Metroid Prime 3's experience lasts around 20-30hrs for the average person.

- More Polished. The game has the polish that mark Nintendo games, and seeing that this is probably The Conduit's biggest flaw, it means a lot.

The Conduit

- Online, there isn't online or a multiplayer of any kind in Metroid Prime 3.

- More Action based because it is an FPS.

- More customizable controls, though Metroid Prime 3's were good too.

What to look for in each game.

Metroid Prime 3 for those who want Action-Adventures or the overall better game. The Conduit for those who want an online experience as well a a more action focused game.

Final Choice

Metroid Prime 3.

Metroid games aren't exactly fun. For lack of a better metaphor, they're like Silent Hill. They're moody and atmospheric. They're experiences. They're epics.

With that said, I have no experience with the Conduit therefore, I have no opinion.

In my opinion, experiencing that is a form of fun. Anything could be fun actually, it is all subjective.

^^^Well, yeah. That's true. For a long time, Metroid Prime 3 was my pick for best game this generation. It's still in my top 5. If you're one of those people who are into "experiences" (like me), Prime is a lot of fun. For others, I see a multiplayer fps being a quick and easy to pick up alternative.

MP3 can be hard to those that are used to run-and-gun type of games.

But once you get used to the feel and know that you're supposed to look around, you'll enjoy the game.

It's quite easy to get stuck if you're new to the gene, IMO.
