Forums - Sales - Assassin's Creed II: Discovery (Ds) did 10k first week...Thoughts?

I think its time to stop making Ds versions of big Hd titles..Even Assassin's on PSP did better despite gamespot giving it 5,5 and Ds version 7.0.

Call of Duty Mobilized also did 10k in first week...

For such huge userbase and with such popular series I think they should do better.

Well anyone played these games?Thoughts?

They should stick with HD consoles.

After watching a gameplay video, I have to say that it's likely that the DS games are very different from the HD games therefore limiting their appeal. Also they can be perceived as afterthoughts as the HD games are getting the advertisement, the hype, and the reviews while these games seem to fade into obscurity.

Pixel Art can be fun.

wait there was an Assassins Creed 2 game on DS?
no wonder it sold like sh** when there wasn't any advertisment for it or even announcement(maybe except that it's being made for ds). i only heard about this game on apple conference when they showed couple of upcoming games.

I don't know what's stranger...

That there's an Assassin's Creed II for DS or that someone is actually pretending to care about its sales.

The previous two Call of Duty games on DS sold 650k and 460k, so it's no wonder that they've released a third.

As for AC, I dunno. The first one seems to have bombed hard on DS, but done pretty well on iPhone. Perhaps the cost of making these games is so low that it doesn't take many unit sales to turn a profit.

Perhaps even when they underperform, publishers punt them out to try to help build franchise recognition. Every copy on a shelf is a little billboard for other games in the franchise. They want people to think, "Oh, Assassin's Creed. I hear the DS game sucks, but I should get around to grabbing it for my 360."

I don't think that's how most peoples' thought processes work.  If they hear that the game sucks on DS they would probably associate the entire franchise with suckage.  The most desirable outcome for Ubisoft is to have people enjoy the DS version so they want to pick up an HD version, or vice versa.
