I would rather attribute this spike to 3/4 quarter games coming out rather than simply supply increase. Europe just got MP3: Corruption, mind you, while the US is getting Manhunt 2, which will sell some units imo.....but then again thanksgiving a.k.a. "christmas-part one" is coming up, so maybe there is some logic in assuming bigger supply shipments. Hell knows, as long as it sells...

Wojtas: I agree with you that there are other reasons we can use to justify the increase, but think about these two points:

1- Could this sales increase happen without a supply increase?
2- Even if there were no special games out now, would the sales increase still happen if supply increased?

I believe the answers are:

1- No, at least not in America.
2- Yes, at least in America and in many European countries too.

So other reasons may not really matter, since Wii sales would probably increase anyway even if supply was the only thing which changed.

Another important question is "Why did supply increase"? I believe the answer is either holidays, or to counter the effect of PS3 pricing changes and the 40 GB model.

Definitely - this is exactly the time Nintendo will start unlocking those warehouses full of stocked up Wiis. They should get close to 320k WW for the week - which is close to what the DS used to do. This alone will get them 1.5m sales for the month - but sales are only going to skyrocket, as Galaxy, more games & more hardware is released.

PS3 is still heavily lagging - they need those cuts in the US. 360 sales in US >> PS3 sales in Europe (after price cut!).

I wonder how the PS2 is doing? Be nice to add that to the sales list (its still a major player).

Well i object to the idea that European countries need extra supplies to sell that many wii's. It's not as if you can't find a Wii England or in France. I understand and agree that maybe there are more units being shipped, but that factor alone doesn't have that much of an impact as the fact that Europe is finally getting more good games.

As for the US, i have no real evidence to back my claim or rather assumption, ergo you may be the one that's right in this conversation.

Oh yeah is it me, or did those worldwide figures revert back to the point before ioi made a correction for "others" sales?

Maybe Guitar Hero 3, Zack & Wiki and Manhunt 2 boosted Wii sales. I think GH3 will sell the most on Wii lifetime. Also those high numbers seem more like total sell-out rather than increased supply. That'd have to start with SMG on the shelves.
