Forums - Nintendo - Solution for 3rd party Wii quality titles

Games are already expensive, and consumers are not just gonna take a sudden rise in prices, imo, especially with this whole economic crisis and stuff.

Besides, HD twins games are 60 bucks, 50 or 40 for a Wii game is fine and acceptable. More expensive games is only gonna mean less sales.

Bad idea.

Last generation's games were usually $50, and I didn't see the abundance of shovelware on them that the Wii gets.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

Let me put it this way...

If a game like, say Dragon Age, or Borderlands, came to the Wii, albeit with a different art style (one that favored lower texture memory requirements), and slightly different gameplay, you guys wouldn't pay $60 for them?

Too much to pay for a good game?

I pay $60 for games on the 360 as-is.

But a sudden spike in prices on a console where the norm (sans extra controller) is fifty? You are asking for trouble. We are not the norm, here, and not the people who need to be appealed to.

They wouldn't be close to equal on the Wii. You would be paying the same price as the superior versions for an inferior product.

You guys make it sound like a catch-22.

If the 3rd parties raise the price of a Wii game, to ensure it's level of quality, no one buys it, because they want cheap games.  If they keep the price the same, publishers won't make quality games for it, because the investment/return is too risky.

Sounds like the Wii is out of luck, when it comes to quality games that Reggie is asking publishers to bring to the Wii.

Real solution: Release AAA games, not budget spinoffs and niche new IPs. It worked for Monster Hunter.

The "problem" with 3rd party Wii "efforts" is 100% content, 0% pricepoint.  If they did it on PS2, they should be doing it on Wii.
