Currently the 3rd fastest selling console ever... Maybe it still will be when the next shipment data's come in, while it's not up to PS2/Wii standards, beating PS1 is something good.
Will it "dominate" like the PS2? No.
Will it continue to have really good sales? Yes.
I wonder if it can surpass or get close to PS1 sales when all's said and done...

I don't see PS3 "dominate" next year or go on to sell 100+ million in its life time to beat PS1... that's just me.
MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

Wii is the only console that will dominate this generation, PS3 sells well but it just wont beat Nintendo.

Anyway, the sales comparisons with PS1 / PS2 are off. One must take into account the fact that both consoles launched much earlier in Japan (exclusively), which is why their launches look very poor.
Sorry, not even a chance for catching the Wii, but if it keeps it's momentum it can be on par with the 360 someday around 2014........
This is simply the type of article with a tasty headline that gets views and attention, pity its all BS.
nojustno, I only own a PS3 and its my favorite system of all time but PS3 will not dominate Wii and even though I believe it will outsell Xbox 360 in 2010 (and I also believe it will pass its lifetime sales) it will never pull a PS2 dominationish thing.. also the PS3 made HUGE losses for Sony and the PS3 is sales-wise no PS2..
there are a few similarities but that aside.. nojustno!
