Old navy really screwed me over. My family left the house a 2:30, got to old navy at 2:55 or something and they were just opening up. Got our 30$ worth of jeans, asked the funny sounding guy at the register if they were doing the lego rock band deal.

cashier:"yes we're doing it, but you have to have a ticket when you were standing in line."

me:".....what? um, I didn't get a ticket?"

cashier:"well we only got 50 of the rock band games so we had to give tickets to the people that were in line outside."

me:"oh well good, I know for sure there wasn't 50 people outsid-"

cashier's boss:"Well, we only got 25 in."

Me:"......."

It seriously pissed me off. I wanted to shoot up the place.

I...I don't understand that exchange. Please explain it for me, because it makes no sense...

lol, I hope this is understandable.

Basically their ads were lies. You don't get the game by shopping there, you get the rock band game by standing in line outside before the store opens.

I got to Old Navy at 3AM, and picked out a little over $20 worth of clothes for my kid so I could get the free Lego Rock Band.

I went to Walmart at 5AM only to find out they hadn't closed at all going from Thanksgiving to Black Friday and starting offering their doorbusters at midnight. Most other Walmarts were doing a 5AM opening, but since I'm 20 minutes from the Walmart with the trampling last year, they were precautious. I missed out on getting NBA 2K10 for $25 and didn't get to see what all the other games on the sales list were. By the time I could figure out what was a sales game and what wasn't, since the employees were clueless, my choices for the 360 were Need for Speed Shift at $25, UFC Unleashed at $25, PGR4 at $10 and Godfather II at $10. I took everything but the Godfather. I wasn't too big into getting the game anyways and I found a final copy sitting in the toy aisle mixed in with the toys, so I gave it to some nice woman I was talking to earlier that didn't end up getting a copy of GTA IV for her son like she wanted.

That was it for me. Old Navy was a pleasant experience. Walmart was a nightmare. I was out of Walmart in enough time to hit other doorbusters, but I just couldn't take it any longer.

You didn't get clued in to everyone else lining up that maybe there was a point to it? The Lego Rock Band was the only doorbuster they had. What else would everyone else have been lining up for? I mean sorry you didn't get the game, but this seems more like a Black Friday rookie mistake on your part more than any fault of Old Navy. The armband thing was there to keep control and make sure they got to keep track of how many they could give away and for what platforms so people weren't caught off guard.

I would if I lived in America.

I could do with a deal on ACII right now.

I got that part, it's the "we only get 50" followed by "we only got 25 in" part that confuses me. If I understand correctly, they just lost half their shipment in the two seconds you guys were talking...?

Yes the same reason for every other black friday shopping: Good deals.

And it's not like we weren't there when the store opened and one of the first to check out.

I'm not talking about the line outside the store before it opened. I'm talking about the line they had people form after the store opened where a door greeter was handing out armbands and a one page sheet explaining the deal. You had to see some sort of line form inside the store close to the entrances that everyone except you got into. I think your real mistake was thinking that people were just there for good deals. No sir. Everyone that woke up to be at Old Navy at 3AM, every last person, was there to score a free Lego Rock band with their purchase. Not a person shopping at Old Navy that morning was going to spend any less regardless on clothes, so obviously 100% of shoppers were interested in the deal.

no, I should have bought MGS4 for $15 new from amazon.com though. I really don't need any games at the moment though, as I'm still playing

Dirt 2, Uncharted, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. Also, I already preordered Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks.

What the...MGS4 for $15?! Go get it now.

Not yet. Dropping by Gamestop tonight to pick up:

Left 4 Dead 2 $39.99
Forza 3 $39.99
Tekken 6 (PS3) $39.99
Dynasty Warrior 6 (360) $19.99

Disgaea 3 (PS3) used $34.99
Fallout 3 (360) used $34.99
Resident Evil 5 (360) Free (buy 2 get 1 free)

Don't want to be in the middle of all the craziness...

Of course there was. You obviously just didn't see it or you came after they had given them all away. Somehow other people got bracelets. I don't think they'ed tuck a line for the bracelets in the back corner of the store, so up front and visible seems far more likely. Even the guy at the register in your story said there was a line for getting a ticket for the promo. Obviously at some point that morning a line existed to get the game. You obviously didn't see it or you came too late to be a part of it. There is no real third option here.
