Forums - Nintendo - Link flying? Aonuma shares thoughts.

"I have an eight-year-old son myself at home, and quite recently he started playing The Phantom Hourglass for DS, because when the software first hit the market he was too young. When he started playing with the boat, I told him: 'In the next Zelda, you are going to be able to ride on the train.' He answered: 'OK, Dad, first boat, and then train? Surely next time, Link is going to fly in the sky ... '. (Aonuma says with a grin) I just don't know. If many people make many speculations ... some of them might be correct. Right now, I have to refrain from commenting on anything." - Eiji Aonuma

Well that's enough of a comment for me to get excited! It's sort of a playful though, and I can't decide if it should be taken seriously or not. Keep in mind that the actual idea of flight is brought up by Aonuma's son, not Aonuma himself. It's Aonuma's statement after, along with his facial expression that have me wondering if there's merit to the comment.

Aonuma went on to discuss more of his personal thoughts/impressions of MotionPlus use in Zelda Wii.

"With this attachment, your minute hand movements are more precisely reflected … You can feel it so naturally and so intuitively. It's not just an improvement over the movement of Link himself: the realisation of your more minute movements on the screen will expand the entire gameplay. I believe that we will be able to offer some great innovations in the new Legend of Zelda. Of course I have to refrain from giving any details, but we are contemplating altering the way the game progresses in comparison with all the past Legend of Zelda franchises...but I have to stop talking here."

Aonuma is the guy that's more open to share details on upcoming games from the whole Nintendo staff.

I wouldn't mind link flying actually, that would be pretty cool...

It would be cool, but many people won't like the idea I guess. I mean, looks like this Zelda is not going to be a game that uses the old formula. A world that grants even more freedom of decision and exploration would be cool with a flying vehicle/creature, but I don't want it to be GTA: Link's stories.

Aye, but it has no meaning, why bring it up at all?

I'm excited.  >=)

I don't know you have to ask RMC at Gonintendo :D That's his thoughts right there.

Whoops. Assumed they were your own.

Don't worry, I should have posted a link at the beginning with the title that GoNintendo has for this story.

I have a son. When ever I relate a story about my son about something cute I get a big smile myself. More than likely his smile in regards to flying isn't so much to do with what's coming. Maybe he will in the next WindWaker series, but the next Zelda on console won't.

I get more and more the inclining that the next Zelda is going to be mission based rather than having a hub or the entire Hub design will be overhauled.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
