Forums - Gaming - So does sex sell on games like movies?

Not as much as movies, certainly. Not so many of the biggest franchises out there incorporate erotica in some form or other.

The majority of gamers are males so yes, sex sells in videogames. Secondly games like Bayonetta and Heavyrain cannot expect great sales.

I don't see an awful lot of sex in the best selling movies either, and that is an entertainment form dripping with romantic situations. Seems sex doesn't sell movies either. Big budgets, large marketing campaigns and great word of mouth seem to sell movies.

Of course sex sells in video games.

This is why Ms. Pac-Man is much more popular than the original Pac-Man. Everyone knows that.

This is coming from a Nintendo guy who will never see any form of sexual awkwardness or even teasing in a game. Go save princess toadstool.

I'm going to say no based on the fact I think in computer games, violence sells.

Hmm, pie.

Now we have Bayonetta which has got great scores but didin't sell that much in Japan (land of sex).

You do know that Japan is in a drastic decline in population right? They spend too much time working that at the end of the night they only have time for their hands.  America is the real 'land of sex' with their movies and TV shows showing more sex appeal, they are biggest porn industry in the world and internet doesnt slow their sales.

OT: Sex sells to a certain extent, but nothing to make things epic.

No,I don't play videogames for that purpose.
