Nintendo is indeed losing momentum.
Both DS and Wii are down YoY,especially the DS,while the PS3 was up 52% last week, from last year's numbers.

What? DS: 2008 vs 2009 - it's selling ~30M yearly WW third year in a row.

Dude last year between the 8th and 14th November the DS was selling 710k units

Now it sold 494k,thats a 30% decrease

Yet it is still destroying PS3 in sales. I really don't get people who only look at last years numbers to say something has momentum or not. If console X sales trend is higher than console Y in a specific period, console X has more momentum than console Y in that period. This is regardless of the kind of sales both consoles had last year. Of course last years sales might give a provide useful information to predict sales for the coming period, but that is a completely different subject.

I've never said that it doesnt beat the PS3 in sales, dont put words in my mouth buddy.Im only saying that its losing momentum, otherwise it wouldnt be down so much YoY

Nor do I say you said that. However your post seems to fully agree with Sony's words while I argue it is useless to only compare a console to its own performance from last year to determine which console has momentum and which one hasn't.

Yes but you are saying it like there is some great significance to it in the scheme of things.  In the scheme of things, thank God the PS3 is up year on year because it was doing horribly this time last year and is it surprising that the DS and Wii are down YOY, from the highest handheld and home console sales respectively EVER in the history of gaming.  Are they just supposed to continue breaking records every year?

1) Don't call me "dude", dude.

2) 30% down one week that's "losing momentum"?

Nah its called ''gaining momentum''

Anything so you can sleep well at night, and by the way its down every week

The nerve of Sony... they sold the same amount that Wii in their strongest market according to latest Famitsu report. I guess they had momentum for like 2 months and that was that.

My point was - see the biger picture, "momentum" is smth bigger than one week sales - and don't become personal.

Personally, I think that as long as both the Wii and the DS are trending above the PS2 for sales, that the momentum they have is fine. The graph indicates that the only line collision I see happening in the next year is the Wii falling below the DS.
