Forums - Gaming - How are you supposed to walk and run with Natal?

Well I've commented on this before. But hey it's a forum, it's not like people absorb knowledge :P. I'm a bit guilty of that too.

Natal won't be used for "moving" unless it's Entertainment. In regards to gaming however. You will still be using a controller. How Natal will enhance the shooters? well when you want to lean around a corner the PLAYER leans. You may even get some twitch recognition for dodging. Sudden jerk to the side may get the character to dodge. Over the violent game market Natal will have little to no impact. It will be used for different interaction. Driving games will probably use your hands and the controller in hand. Braking, shifting and stuff will be mapped to the analogs.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Maybe you'll hold a controller which would kind of defeat the purpose of the entire "You are the controller" thing, now wouldn't it? Can't beat the old analog stick.

I think the reason Natal would sell at all is as a PC interfacing tool.

You use the 360 controller with one hand?

Seriously, I don't see Natal being used much for traditional games, unless they come up with some sort of nunchuck. But then again, the point of Natal is not having to use a controller.
Natal will probably be used for racing games, party games, sports games or other games where it makes sense to use it. For most FPS, TPS etc I believe you will still play with a traditional controller.

well natal = fail soo nobody knows how lol

Simply dubbing something to be "fail" is not an appropriate response on these forums. In the future, please provide a legitimate opinion with proper reasoning to back it up.

This is your only warning.

Anyway, if it uses legs or feet position, the system loses 1:1 legs and feet tracking, if it uses hands, it loses 1:1 arms and hands tracking and, even worse, it loses the possibility to walk simultaneously with performing actions with your hands, if it uses a controller, it becomes quite like the Sony system, but overall, it looks like Wii's system is still the most versatile.
As Darth Tigris said, though, for dance games Natal will be the best system by far, I can't see Nintendo and Sony beating it if MS implements it right.

I said it before and MS should prove me wrong. Natal without a device like the Wiimote+nunchuck or the Wand will not provide an experience equally satisfaying for any genre but just a few.

^^
MS needs a marketing twist... For example it could call a separate genre each difference dance done with Natal. The next step would be moneyhatting gaming magazines and world dance federations to support this idea...   Though I guess those elitist tangueros would support Tango to be a separate genre from other dance games even for free

Rather shallow thinking there given the sig you have.  Everyone keeps going on and on about how Natal will fit into current genres, did everyone just ignore the new gameplay styles the Wii introduced and the success its had because of this reason?  Natal I'm sure will be used in some of the more traditional genres but it will be a completely different gaming experience to what we're used to now.  "Core" gamers for want of a better word get so hung up on the dislike of change they forget that gaming rules aren't written in stone.  Natal will produce lots of new innovative gameplay elements that many people may love.  I didn't think 10 years ago I would ever find rocking out to a plastic guitar on my console would be fun but it goes to show you what a great concept combined with execution can lead to.

All the above of course is entirely subject to the technology working as it should upon release.  There are indeed huge doubts when any new technology is released but I would still rather be optimistic at the moment.  Every persons initial reactions I've read that have actually used Natal have been extremely positive so until I get reports to the contrary I'll remain positive about it.

i have no idea, i wanna know the same question lol
