Forums - Gaming - God of War Collection great or bogus?

A little thought came up in my mind today, did Sony on purpose release the God of War games for the PS2 so they could re-release it on the PS3 and make more of an profit?

Cause lets face for such an big franchise it was released pretty late in the PS2 lifecycle. Often new franchises get a little post poned and programmed for the next gen.

Actually I dont think they did it on purpose but just a interesting thought!

Just when you think you've heard some of the dumbest theories every ones like this pop up.

... That's ... Wow. I...

... That's one of the strangest things I have ever heard.

Is your pot laced with angel dust?

Seriously, this is a crazy theory and doesn't make sense at all.

Katamari Damacy came out late in the ps2 lifetime too.
This happens with a lot of games.

A better question would be, "did sony remove Backwards compatibility in order to sell more ps2 games on ps3".

No they didn't this is sony not microsoft

I've read somewhere that Onimusha was origianally a PS1 game but the PS2 was less than 2

years away from launch so they went ahead on the PS2.

God of War 2 was released in 2007, The PS3 was out then. Could do that a collection of 2 games are easier to sell.

That's uncalled for ramser.
This site doesn't put up with random flaming.

So they can claim GOW2 was made for the ps3.

I kind of want to deny that I'm from the same country as you now, OP.

Had Sony not still been trying to sell PS2's then maybe. But GOWII was obviously developed to help support the continued sales of the PS2. Since the first GOW was released late it was safe to assume that most people who bought it would still be playing their PS2 when GOWII came out also it helps reduce variable cost and is a lot cheaper to produce if it's a sequel than if they were to jump to the PS3 right away.
