Forums - Sales Discussion - RE4 Wii ships 1 million!

To be honest, I don't really like the idea of a port from 360/PS3 to Wii. I love RE, but the Wii games that are multiplat haven't been the greatest on Wii (Need for Speed, Fifa etc..). I know most of this is EA and Simpsons supposedly is great on Wii, but it still will be a graphical downgrade with great controls. RE4 Wii was the ultimate edition for that game.
I'd rather have RE 1-3 complete redone for Wii with the same exellent controls as RE4, 16:9, 480p and better graphics.

Isn't that RE:UC, or at least somewhat. Coincidentally, I suspect they may put in RE5 on Wii later because of RE:UC, since one of its purpose seem to familarize what Capcom would (assume) to want to familarize people with previous RE. With the emphasis on RE0, 1, and 3, it seems it will have a heavy relation with RE5. Of course, this is all speculation and they could just assume that the people who will buy RE:UC have either X360 or PS3.

I am a PC gamer, and also have a NDS now, but without access to a Nintendo Wii until End of 2007.

Currently playing: Super Smash Brothers Brawl(Wii), Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer(DS), Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (DS), WiiFit(Wii)

Games Recently Beaten: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (Normal; Very Hard after the next DLCs become available)

1 word: RTFA

The idea of redoing 1-3 is cool but I feel if I have to sfuffer through those bad camera angles again I will cry no matter how good the controls are. That was one of the beauties fo RE4, the yfinally got that monkey off their back.

The best scenario is just putting RE6 on the Wii.

Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.

*naznatips is exempt

On the buy Zack and Wiki campaign: I understand where people are coming from, and I want the game to do well too, but the ironic fate of all high-selling Capcom games is to receive an endless wave of uninspired sequels.

Be careful what you wish for!

Congrats, RE4.

Hopefully, Third Parties see THIS game as evidence that Mature games CAN sell on Wii, rather than Manhunt 2- which appeals to a niche gore audience, and is being reviewed very badly.

Maybe now third parites will realize that to sell on the Wii they just have to make good games

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

Here's a thought.

Capcom released Resident Evil 4 (a 3 year old game) on the Wii as a test.

The sales of the Wii Edition of RE4 were the proving grounds that determined Capcom's relation with Nintendo on the Wii project.

The sales are a success and Nintendo passed the test.

Resident Evil 5 will be made with Wii in mind FIRST.

And it's looking like it probably will be a Wii exclusive.

Series creator Shinji Mikami always wanted to make the Resident Evil series for Nintendo originally and in the Gamecube era, Nintendo's console lowest, Mikami went against the grain and went to bat for Nintendo wanting to make his games there instead of everywhere else. Rereleases of the Resident Evils, the Capcom 5, and the original exclusivity of RE4 point to a strong Nintendo-Capcom relationship.

Market realities forced them to work with the PlayStation platform in both 5th and 6th generation but in the 7th Nintendo's reigning supreme. They haven't brought Resident Evil to the XBoxes even though they could.

But with XBox 360 holding to the old NES-derived controller standard and Nintendo moving forward with this new Wii standard, a crazy creative director like Mikami and the RE team is most likely gonna work with the new style.

Mark my words: Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition was the test that ensured the exclusivity of Resident Evil 5 to the Wii platform. And Nintendo passed the test.

Yes, another landmark John Lucas prediction. Mark it down in your record books. Put it in your favorites/bookmarks. It's gonna happen.

Pardon me if I missed something since I skimmed most of the above posts, but RE5 is already being made for 360/PS3, do you mean RE6?

I'll buy RE:UC because I like light gun shooters and RE, but that's not what I meant. RE:UC is not a real survivor horror, it's a light gun shooter. The original RE games were great, but now I've played RE4 on Wii I'll never want to play them again with normal controls (especially the second one was bad). I really thought RE4Wii was that good. Capcom has a chance to make ultimate editions of those brilliant games (that will probably sell good as well).

I think remakes of 1-3 are not out of the question and much more linked to RE:UC than RE5

John Lucas: It will be great if RE5 comes to Wii exclusively (but I don't see it happening) but I don't want a port. Then I'd rather have the 360 version.
