Forums - Nintendo - Would developers give a Wii HD the games they denied the Wii so far?

That's because there were the big games to top those on the charts instead. Duh.

Yeah, but the PS1 and PS2 didn't have an amazing library straight out the door. It was slim pickings but people still bought the core titles that were available.

The Wii has plenty of core games that are far better than most of what we saw on the PS1 and PS2. But people aren't buying them.

^If it were just that, then why have some third party games managed to sell?

How did you come up with that? It has nothing to do with what I was talking about.

It proves other companies can figure out the Wii market, even if only by accident

Well they've proven excerise, party, and edutainment games can be a success. We've also seen games that use an already popular IP can be successful. Even if sales are modest compared to other consoles (i.e. Call of Duty and Need for Speed).

In my opinion a lot of games seem to be successful by accident. Which further proves the Wii audience is unpredictable.

Yet for very successful game in those markets, many have flopped.  Games that use a particular IP tend to have more effort put into them than ones that don't.

No, it just proves that Developers are stupid.  If Developers can see that a game is successful, then they should be able to study the reason as to why those games are successful.

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Just because you don't know the reason does not make them accidents. It just shows you didn't pay attention to the market conditions that made them his. Your proof is that you are being just as poor an analyst as those developers.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

When you flood the Wii with games of the same genre, obviously not every release is going to be a success.

As I said before. Developers can make 1 HD game and share it between 3 consoles (360, PS3, and PC). Wii games have to be developed specifically for the Wii and their sales depend entirely on the Wii userbase. This hardly motivates developers to put a ton of money into Wii software especially when they're likely to sell less than other consoles with a larger core audience.

You seem to know what can and can't be a success on the Wii. Why don't 3rd party developers come to you for advice? They're just pissing money away not getting your insight.

^That's part of the problem the other is while they are flooding the genre, they aren't actually realizing why Nintendo was a success, they are just being birdmen.

Except Nintendo games have sold more than most, if not all HD games, I think outside of a few multiplats like MW 1 and 2, Wii games like Zelda have outsold pretty much all Multiplats

I'm not the one they should be going to, they should be going here: http://malstrom.50webs.com/birdman.html

Yeah, but most analyst have apparently done a poor job. This further proves how unpredictable it is.

No it just proves most analysts are fools, some got it right

Once again you compare every developer to Nintendo. It's Nintendo's audience so no one should understand them better. Its the same reason why Sega games were top sellers on Sega consoles.

Well you should send that to the developers. So they can start making their billions.

Well I just cut and paste my same post again to respond. And I think I will!

You see how we're running in circles?

^No, because if some got it right, that proves that they were smarter than the others who didn't.

Nintendo understands them better because they study the market, third parties don't, and so its their fault when their games fail, not the market.

Oh I'm certain people have, but the developers aren't going to listen, they don't think in terms of the concepts of disruption and blue oceans, they think that any garbage will sell then complain about Nintendo, the Wii or the the consumers when their games fail
