Forums - Gaming - Modern Warfare 2 to be pulled off shelves in Australia

Just letting all Aussie gamers that don't have a copy and plan to that Michael Atkinson will be appealing the classification of MW2 in the near future which means it must be pulled off all shelves until the review is complete.

If you want to guarantee that you get a copy for Christmas/get an unedited version then I suggest you buy it by the end of this week.

That's just wrong.

Has Australia similar problems with violence in Videogames like germany ? Do you have bad propaganda against videogames too ? If yes I hope that the other Countrys stay strong and this wont be a world wide trend.

Just wow. What next ban Mario because he is a kids character and kills things.

I honestly think politicians have forgotten why they are put in office.

What is the point of having a independent body that classifies games if a politician can make it his own personal crusade to get that decision overturned? Why don't we get rid of the classifications board, save a bunch of taxpayers money and just let Michael Atkinson make his own decisions about what adults in this country are allowed to watch/play?

Not at all.  We just have this one douche bag who seems to appeal to a very small but vocal minority and thinks he has the right to influence the gaming habits of grown adults.  I honestly don't know anyone who supports his stance.

Aussies get it now or forever be doomed to black bars and candy canes!

Luckily, all that ever happens in that regard in the US is grandstanding Congressional hearings and the passage of unenforceable, unconstitutional laws.

My sympathies go out to my fellow gamers in Australia. The question is how to get someone to realize that these are not "children's toys"?

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.
