Forums - Sony - M.A.G updates are getting out of hand.

Yes I know the game is still in Beta as a result, updates shouldn't be an issue and in truth, the seemingly weekly 37mb updates aren't an issue, what is an issue is the 2.6 (now 2.8+) gigabyte extra addon files that follows. I barely even begun the last one when I switched on the game only to find there's a new 37mb file to get which means that another 2.8gb will surely follow...

My only gripe is there surely has to be a better way, I know the world and their puppy have super fast internet, but me I drew the short straw (I might as well be on dial up). For example, the 37mb file is currently reading 1583minutes to go...I wish I was joking but I'm not.

If that's how long the 37mb is gonna take then I think I better say good bye to 2010 if I'm to get the 2.8gb that will follow, oh my counter is now 2085minutes...

I know not all of it is Sony/Zipper or whatever's fault but still, this means of game updates seriously needs to be fixed somehow.

so you want them to buy you better internet ?

err...no...just find a better way of updating instead of doing 28gb each time. I know everyone else can do that in 10mins flat therefore it's filed under "not an issue" but not all of us are that lucky. Instead of releasing the game each time and asking folks to download it in one sitting, why not just do patches?
Sure the new system Zipper uses where you keep what you've downloaded so far when tackling the 2.8gb is good but my point is does it have to be that big?

my mag beta install is 8.5gb last time i check... its allover my HDD... its time for me to update my ps3 HDD but while i dont do that, my ps3 its full as a bottle of water in a Irish pub...

Proudest Platinums - BF: Bad Company, Killzone 2 , Battlefield 3 and GTA4

Confrontation also had super huge updates too. I stopped playing it because I didn't feel like sitting through the download.

I know its not the same company making the game but considering they used to make SOCOM and both have a crappy update system, I'm betting they used a similar method. They need to find a better way.

But it's a beta...

lol

It's all free!

Ugh, I understand why you are upset, but seriously guys.. People complain about lack of polish and bugs that "shouldn't be there upon release", now, when they try to make sure the game is perfect upon release, people also complain about that. I mean, what did you expect? Beta's aren't for having people play all they want and satisfy their needs, they are betas for a reason: feedback, bugs, etc. The game should be ubber polished upon release, and this makes me happy. How else did you think they were gunna update? Send you copies via mail? Hmm... maybe I'm on to something here..

I'm all for them updating the game (that's why God invented "beta testing") I just wish they would find better ways of doing so.

What's wrong with a patch instead of downloading the entire game again?
