Forums - Gaming - Apple: iPhone "3GS Is On Par With PSP, If Not Beyond" Says Fishlabs CEO

This is likely to arch a few eyebrows amongst the PSP crowd but Michael Schade, CEO of Fishlabs (they did Galaxy On Fire and more recently Rally Master Pro) has said on record to PocketGamer.biz that the iPhone 3GS is as powerful, if not more so, than the Sony PSP.

When asked about whether he was worried about spiralling development budgets Schade replied...

"Indeed, 3GS is on par with PSP, if not beyond, and we're competing with the big publishers and some really talented indies with excellent console gaming background. This is a business environment where project budget easily go up by a couple of hundred thousand Euros if you

want to compete in the premium segment.

Given the heavy price pressure on the App Store, it is quite a challenge to break-even. One of the biggest issues is that even premium games can't sustain a reasonable price for a long time and if you launch a new title many consumers compare its value with existing games that have been live only for a few months and seen heavy price drops."

Is the iPhone 3G really comparable with the PSP? I suspect we'll have to wait for more 3GS specific games to come out before we can really compare apples to apples.

Which do you think has the edge? (well, in terms of EDGE obviously iPhone. You know what we mean)

Oooo, I expect this to b dicey between Sony and Apple. I wonder what the PSP2 will have to say about that when it's released (I hope) in about 2 years (anything before that is just pure mean).

WELL DONE TO APPLE......

5 years later ....though..

Launch PSP games look better than the best looking iPhone games.
