What the hell is the differencec between a Jedi Knigh and a consular, same question for the Sith classes.

The most obvious answer is they have different diciplines and skill trees.  But it still makes no sense why there's 2 different Jedi classes per side because they already revealed that with each class, depending on how you play, you gain different skills and abilities.  So....what's the point in having different branching paths in each class when you have 2 different Jedi classes ('sith' and 'sith inquisitor').  Its like telling people that unique property of the game doesn't even matter anymore, because a Jedi is just a Jedi reguardless.  There's 4 types so who cares about variety.

See that's what I thought too. 4 of the classes seem to be more or less the same thing, that or a big feature is just bullshit.

@coolbeans

What about Vader?

Vader/Anakin had more midi-chlorians then Yoda since he was heralded as "The Chosen One".

What about Obi Wan then?

What about him? He's up there with Yoda and Windu in skill plus Vader takes a chance by trying to jump over Obi Wan to kill him and fails

he is the biggest whiner of all character in star wars saga including Cart ONasi.

Yeah, but he had the 'high ground'!  (Insert bad joke here)

But yeah, I'd hope peopel don't just play this game trying to immitate Obi-Wan or Yoda.  Eventhough they seem to be making the classes towards that, if everyone is just trying to become the next Han Solo or Vader, its going to be a very boring game.

The difference between a Jedi Knights and a Jedi Consular will be like the difference between a Paladin and a Priest in WoW. Consulars focus more on force abilities, making them great healers and such.

You need to know the EU to understand a lot of this stuff.

I presume there's a subscription fee for this game?

None has been announced but it would be a cold day in hell if there wasn't one.  They aren't going to put this much detail and time into an MMO without monthly fees.

Hmm. That's a shame, I'd love to play this game... but there's no way in hell I'm paying a monthly fee, unless the game itself is no more than 15-20$.

I love Star Wars, I LOVE KotoR, I HATE D20 SW and Lucas Arts SW games tend to be lack luster. The more I learn about this game the more it seems that Bioware is not part of the direction team and more the coders.

Seriously on one of the developers mentioned that "When you think Smuggler you think Han-Solo", "When you think Bounty Hunter you think Boba Fett". Dude WTF was the guy thinking. The entire reason why KotoR was so f'ing awesome because it gave us a SW universe that was different. The more I see ToR the more it feels like a copy and paste job of episodes 3-6 put shortly after the KotoR games. Not all Bounty Hunters have jet packs, flame throwers and wrist missel launchers. Fetts popularity is soley fan iconization. Solo was a liar about being the fastest ship. Who ever hears a sales men calling themselves the second or third best.

And the game going to install at 40+gb, good lord.

Will this game sell. If Bioware makes a bad game I will be surprised. Will I buy this game. yes. Will I invest numerous months of money into this game. Probably. but good lord I can't help to think that the ToR design team is their second rate and listing too much to Lucas Arts.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

the best star Wars game is Jedi Outcast, also Jedi Knight 1.

You have heavy competition with Tie Fighter there.  Though the Jedi Outcast/Academy series is up there.

Also, with .jayderyu's point, I think Bioware is the main developer including the storyline and planning, much like with the first KOTOR game.  However, they probably have a lot of help from other sources, such as writers and planners from Lucasarts and possibly novel writers of the series.  This seems to be one of the biggest MMOs ever attempted and something beyond even the guys at Bioware to keep limited to just in house.  Perhaps they also hired out some help from other development groups, especially since this isn't the only project they have going (or have had going).

But I agree, I hope there's a lot more variety than all the characters just being carbon copies of previous star wars characters.  That's partially why I'm interested in being an Imperial Agent, since they look to be the most 'original'.  But even the little I've seen, some of the others, like Trooper and even some of the gear and moves from Sith looks original, though it could just be a carry-over from KOTOR.

so awesome that I don't have to be either jedi or sith. I can just become a smuggler or a bounty hunter.
