Forums - Gaming - NSMB Wii for me = FAIL

The classic Mario 2D gameplay is there which made all the other Mario games so enjoyable so I can't complain about that.

But I am complaining about the controls and this being the first Wii game I've played with motion controls included that do not add to the game and infact take away a lot of it's enjoyment.

To me having to slant and rotate the Wii remote to move pivoted platforms does not feel natural or an intergrated part of the gameplay.

It's a bit like patting your head and rubbing your stomach, practise enough and you'll get it but, ultimately it's annoying and fucking pointless.

It seems a fairly easy game made more difficult because of the controls and I'm sure I'll complete it 100% but it will be under someone else's tree come Christmas eve.

I'll give it a 6/10

I thought the mechanic wasn't necessary, but I don't let 1 minor little bug ruin my enjoyment in a game, or else I'd hate every game I ever bought.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Then you will make "someone" very happy. I think this game is great. Fun to play with the entire family.

Albion - Its Fun as Ballz !!!!!

Fair enough, but there's, what, a half-dozen places where that mechanic comes into play? And I only had trouble with two of those.

Tekken 6, Modern Warfare 2, NSMBW... they're all over-hyped because they were expected to be better than all those games that game before them.... Don't buy games on release day. I know I wont after the release of GT5

The only motion component that irks me is the whole "press 1 and shake to grab" thing. That bugs the hell out of me. The rest i am either neutral towards, or find rather enjoyable.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

That's not a bug or an issue, its an obstacle created for the game and is purposely difficult like the head/tummy example.

It is still a 9.5 for me.

This I can agree with though. I don't get why I must shake to pick up as well. Pressing the button while standing next to something should be enough. In fact this is the only part of the whole game I dislike so far.

See I thought that was perfectly fine. (along with the shake to fly with the propeller suit)

My problem is the tilt platforms. I'm used to them tilting due to physics and then running to the high side. I start running and level out my remote which then screws me up.

If you are playing multiplayer it would be too easy to accidentally pick up a friend. The shake makes it a deliberate move (for big items/people). Shells (small items) get picked up by just holding 1 and running into them.

Now, if they had a Y button like on the NES controller they could have just remapped it to that.
