Forums - Gaming - Video game piracy is not stealing!!!!!

I got banned on my old account because i had said i had pirated games

(I was just joking)

in fact i dont buy games i buy consoles that are used and games that are used or borrow them from friends

what i dont understand is what is the big deal with video game piracy? you are not actually stealing anything you are just making a copy of something.

they do not lose anything

plus its not like no one will buy the game there will always be people with "integrety" that want to buy the game at 60 dollars just because they dont care about their money.

its like the music industry the piracy there is so massive yet soulja boy or beyonce or shakira still have big houses, cars, gold and everything they wanted.

*** NO LOST REVENUE people who pirate generally do not buy the game---- if they wont buy the game now whywould they buy it later?***

Well, in a way you are stealing "information". And if the law  states that something is copyrighted and you may not copy without paying for it or permission then by law you are stealing.

so what is it to you? its consider stealing because your not paying anything for developer's work... if you're logic was correct... then why only a few pirate?

Why the fuck do modern day pirates not have cool ass ships?

Oh, that's right, because somebody stole them...

I'll let Twest explain when he comes into here shortly if he's on...

Former something....

They are losing potential revenue from people who might buy the game but can get it cheaper illegally.

By pirating you limit the revenue streams of some developers and publishers. These companies are fundamentally driven by creative work produced by teams of artists.

In order to for someone to fund a project such as a videogame, they require some knowledge that they will be allowed to recoup the costs to create the work.

By pirating games you steal from the rest of society the potential for greater and more innovative games due to the restrictions placed on developers in order to be able to recoup costs.

Of course, if you're not going to buy the game anyway it really isn't that big of a deal.

Alt account eh?

Also, banning someone cause they admitted to doing something off site is kinda questionable no? I mean.. if you ban someone for pirating a game then by association shouldn't anyone who pirates music be banned as well? Is it really necessary to ban someone for just saying they have done something? how can you be sure it's the truth? Seems kinda odd to me.
