If you want something even more old school, you can play a first person RPG like The Dark Spire:
Man.... I can't express how much I love this game, but you won't see nothing special on the video because the special thing is the feeling you have when you are playing the game. I am not that old and I didn't played those kind of games on my childhood but I love The Dark Spire. That's why I am very excited for Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey.
PS: The Dark Spire is hard... harder than you think it can be.

Harder than Wizardry on the NES? I handled that okay. Great game too BTW. Thanks for more great advice!

For me it's harder than Wizardry (nes) because it's easy to lose HP but it's hard to make money and buy some potions/weapons or heal your characters. I had to make a small strategy to heal my characters and spend less money. Even if you make a priest on the beginning, one of your characters will get killed and guess what? You will have to pay to resurrect your character and the money you will give is the money that you was saving to buy a weapon.
Wizardry is not easy but I died several times on The Dark Spire and it stopped when I made my strategy. Speaking of RPGs the DS has a big library and there are some good~excellent first person RPGs (Etryan Odissey 1 and 2, Shin Megami Tensey: Strange Journey, Wizardry DS, Orcs & Elves, Fighting Fantasty etc).
