If you want something even more old school, you can play a first person RPG like The Dark Spire:
Man.... I can't express how much I love this game, but you won't see nothing special on the video because the special thing is the feeling you have when you are playing the game. I am not that old and I didn't played those kind of games on my childhood but I love The Dark Spire. That's why I am very excited for Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey.
PS: The Dark Spire is hard... harder than you think it can be.
