Forums - Gaming - bad company 2, not a battlefield game

this really pains me to wirte because i love the battlefield franchise so much but, i have played the bad company 2 beta and if this is the direction they decide to take the franchise then the battlefield series is officially dead. bad company 2 is by no means a battlefield game, it lacks the atmosphere more importantly the play style that made the previous battlefield games so great. They have ruined the class system, the health system, the grenades, the knife, and the damage. It feels more or less like call of duty with big maps and tanks, which sucks because i don't like call of duty at all. I just hate it when people say every developer has to catch up to call of duty in trems of multiplayer, when what made games like battlefield so great is that they are the exact oppisite from call of duty.

I really hope Battlefield 3 is the next true battlefield game because bad company is not. Don't get me wrong it's a great game, but for the hardened fans of the franchise i feel as though this is a hugh slap in the face.

I agree. I also don't know that a real battlefield game is possible with a consoles control scheme. Hopefully they make Battlefield 3 with the PC in mind and just remove stuff to make it fit on the console versions.

That said, I am loving the bad company 2 beta and will almost definately get the game on PC when it comes out.

BF3 will be PC exclusive with BC2's destruction.

Basically it will be BF2 + HD Graphix + 100% destruction.

BC2 is tailored to the console market which is the same as CoD. PC market has already registered many complaints about the smaller maps, odd health and other issue you noted.

BC2 is simply finalizing various features like the destruction so the next PC BF3 game will be the best it can be.

I'll probably buy BC2, unless BF3 is announced before BC2 launches. THen I'll just keep BF2 and wait.

Any confirmation on that? I mean, I would love for that to be the case, however, I am skeptical that will be the case in this day and age.

Worth it if the game is amazing.

Can you be more specific and elaborate on that? And anyone else who thinks the same please s well.

This worries me.

I admit that I have my fair share of complaints about the current iteration of BF.. but I think BF:BC2 is a good game. It is early beta, and I really think a lot of things are going to be played around with by DICE, as far as health and map and game type, etc.

They are just trying to experiment a little, and see what works and what doesnt. I would not worry too much until game is 2 months from release. I might end up being wrong, but my gut tells me that the BF:BC2 we see at retail will be considerably different than the current beta.
