I'd say Duffy is better musically speaking and much much better if we're just talking about quality of the voice.

She's even uglier, though (to be an icon). She looks like a fish-woman drug addict!

Who gives a fuck if she's ugly?
One of the things I hate about the modern pop scene is the obsession with good looks and with dancing. It's meant to be about music ffs.

in my opinion. i think lady gaga voice is better than duffy voice.
| supercat said: ok, fine. Which female *pop* star should be considered better, musically speaking? Britney? please. Madonna? Hasn't done a whole lot lately. I'm really curious as to who you think would be better for my pop dollar, because i'll get the album if you can make a case compelling enough. |
Kylie Minogue.
She's basically the only pop diva around who can use her sex appeal as part of her image without being a total naked party slut.
Here's the music video for "Come Into My World," directed by Michel Gondry.
If that argument wasn't compelling enough, I also recommend "The One" and "In My Arms" and "Slow".
She's just so much more... fun. I can't hear this stuff without shaking my ass. And the videos actually try different interesting things, instead of just really rapid cutting between shots of whoa crazy stuff!
dont expect the great ones to be hot, just sayin. I'm a college psych student and our prof did a large research study on musical people and you know what he found? They tend to be a lot more androginous than average, so the women were much more likely to be tom boys, and the guys would sit around starbucks drinking anything that has whip cream

David Bowie... check.
Grace Jones... check.
Annie Lennox... check.
This theory intrigues me and I'd like to subscribe to your newsletter.
edit: I am going to post a video soon of her explaining that song and the album, because even I don't get it.

This girl beats the others in this thread, this is one of her most known songs but I listened to this album and its very good.

Anyway, I remembered a musician friend told me women arent good musicians in general, even if they are more emotional, that is shallow(see twilight for example, it has emotion, but kinda popcorn romance), and men can make more emotional music. He also said they are worst playing instruments like the guitar.
Of course thats in general, and there are examples that could proove it otherwise.
